UnvoteLight Vector's Teal - because we need someone to investigate Ford's White.
Snuff Ottofar's White - because we can't afford to have him perform his 3-Candle "Dance of Light and Darkness".
Why Dariush, Ottofar, and Captain Ford are in Cahoots:I was sorta hoping folks would forget the "Res Me" thing, and just try to get a handle on the puzzle. Then, Dariush's proposition to "revive" me with a Green Candle happened... and it struck me as a bit weird. Though I understand the nature of the test, empowering Dead Townies seems like an obvious way for Scum to get Town to squander their Day Vote, and slow the Town's power-growth by empowering someone who doesn't stand to benefit from it. And it was weird that Dariush's vote was mirrored directly afterward by Ottofar and Captain Ford, without question. And even better when Captain Ford went on to "accidentally" Tie the vote, along with his teammates. Tying the vote is a way to cripple the Town's Day-Vote, giving the scum's Night-Vote a 1-vote advantage.
I don't think immediatly relighting Soli's white is a good idea. Instead, I think we should light Solifuge's green and see what happens. If he doesn't 'resurrect' or whatever, we can always relight his white tomorrow. Otherwise we've basically wasted two candle actions in exchange for confirming the most obvious theory possible (white=life).
I think we should Light Solifuge Green and teal instead.
I'd like to see if he returns to life that way.
Also Ottofar paces around the room, poking everyone as he goes along, then returns to his place.
I was thinking that myself. Then I joined the sheep and voted for his white.
Unvote.
Light Solifuge's Green Candle
Light Solifuge's Teal Candle
I'll hedge my bets for now, and see which gets more votes. I don't think we should spend them both on Solifuge because it's possible he's out of the game for good.
We have a pretty good knowledge of why Dariush and Ottofar are scummy; heck, that their candles behaved differently than everyone else's is just another indicator. But to explain why I suspect Captain Ford... for a start, he has been trying very hard to appear Town in his posts, to convey that he "has nothing to hide" from an investigation, etc. He suggests Vector investigate two specific players, without any suspicions against them. Then, after he tied the Day Vote to negate it, he apologizes and explains how "shocked" and "angry" he was about it, and in the same breath requests the Town to light his godly candle to empower him. Seriously dude? You've gotten too bold.
Vector: I'd recommend you inspect either a white candle or someone's green candle tonight (maybe Nerjin or Okami). What do you think?
Knowing what white candles (or at least one of them) would be nice.
(It just occurred to me that white candles might reveal alignment, since we don't know what else they do. They might just do nothing, but if that's not the case, I'd invite you to inspect my white candle tonight. I don't have anything to hide)
I am incredibly sorry for tying up the vote yesterday. I was incredibly shocked (and more than a little angry) when I saw it had happened.
I would still like to have my own Teal candle lit.
In addition to following the majority or voting the same way, they tend to be overly concerned with how Townish they appear. Ottofar and Daruish make empty posts (flavor and such) or bicker and accuse one another of stupid things, before completely forgetting it, in an attempt to appear active. Most damning, however, is how they talk and act like Reviving me has to be a pro-Town action, despite that Town has no way of knowing that I'm Town. In a game where the Mod clarifies that players can revive, a player electing to off themselves could be reasonably suspicious... unless you were Scum, and you knew alignment already.
Part of the rationale for lighting his white candle was to prove that people can be revived at all by lighting candles. If we light another candle and he doesn't revive, we won't know if it's because only his white candle controls that or if he just can't be revived by lighting candles.
By that logic, if you light the white candle and he does come back, you won't know if it's the white candle or any candle that does it.
Yeah. But then he's alive. There's something to be said for that.
Something good or bad?
Good.
To expand on that now that I'm home: It's "good" because Solifuge alive is what I want to happen. As to whether or not it's beneficial in the game itself ... I can't answer that.
If I thought he was scum, I wouldn't hesitate to leave him to rot. But I don't know that, and he volunteered for a test. It's only right that we honor our end of the bargain. (I didn't actually vote to snuff his candle I guess, but it still wouldn't feel right to leave him behind).
So yeah. Ottofar, Dariush, and Captain Ford. An investigation on Ford would be spiffing, assuming it hasn't been done. Now to get back to re-reading the thread.
