Define 'speechmaking'? I need to make sure it's what I think it is, it doesn't really make any sense in my language.

So I get a bonus to Loyalty or Recruitment or something?

Nope. If (god forbid) we were rolling d100s, you might get a few points added. But William doesn't even know he has the power, let alone how to exploit its use in specific situations. It only has a small effect over extended periods, certainly not enough to counteract a serious reduction in loyalty, or to encourage people to join your cause if they've just met you.

Also, it's just a strange compulsion of mine to enjoy playing characters like that. You *really* don't have to do it if it makes you uncomfortable. I'm a freak, for sure, but you're probably not.

They could be following him for any number of reasons. They could just be loyalists for one, or that it's a good job. And it makes sense IC too.

Why do you people always have to try and get a little bonus from everything? Just play, we're not minmaxing a paper RPG here, it's a multiplayer dialogue driven thing, game mechanics are just for battles and technical points, not the purpose of the game!

then do it, don't rely on points for it. I could easily tell you that Tala has high charisma and lot of social skills, and that is because I can see that, I don't need no numbers.

I can see leone313 and Ardas's point, but on the other hand there are bonuses to acquire in the first place. If we let our enemies have them and don't try to get them ourselves we're just crippling ourselves when it comes time to fight. Such as now. >.>

There's also the fact that no matter how hard you describe your character to be incredibly good in 'something', the game is random. If one day you have to roll for that 'something', you can fail really easily. Having a bonus with that 'something' is a way to make sure that your character's talents are actually useful.

Shoot raises a good point about that, though technically that means Laythe already has a +1 skill bonus to personal fighting...
