Is it still possible to trade food away to other travelers in this version?

First off, yes, you can still trade. Also, I see two votes for increasing speed and only one for staying at the current speed, so up to grueling it goes!

While I'm preparing the next update (should be up in less than an hour as long as my internet holds out), a question for you all. I've had this game CD for 16 years and although I try to take good care of it, it's starting to suffer some wear and tear. I want to make an image of the disc so I can run it off a virtual drive and keep the actual CD somewhere safe, but Roxio refuses to make an .iso and when I try to make a .gi, it gives me an error message. Does anyone have any suggestions for making an image? A free program that will work and not riddle my computer with spyware and whatnot? Thanks!

There are a few other wagons at Chimney Rock resting and chatting. We're enjoying the view of the rock formation and resting for a few minutes when a conspicuously dark-skinned woman strikes up a conversation.

Timmy overhears her and starts up a panic. It could take even longer to reach Oregon than we realize? He ignores her advice about rationing food and starts to yell at everyone to get a move on so we're not "late for Oregon." Eventually everyone starts to hurry just to shut him up. We wave goodbye to Chimney Rock and press onward.

After a few days, one of the Oxen starts to act funny. It seems to be ill. Looks like it'll slow us down for a while, but there's not much we can do about it right now and we press onward.

The next day, McChar wakes up bright and early with a smile on his face and cooks us all breakfast. When asked about his remarkable recovery, he responds, "Nothing like a brisk walk to nip cholera in the bud!"

Finally, we arrive at Fort Laramie. Anyone up for a few days' rest? Want to try to trade or buy some goods at the shop? Or just press onwards like there's no tomorrow, knowing full well there may not be?

First off, yes, you can still trade.

Then I would advise trading meat for money forthwith.  There will always be more buffalo.

There will always be more buffalo.

Not true actually. If you try to hunt more than once in a short period of time (seems to be more than once between any two landmarks), there's usually nothing but squirrels, or even nothing at all.

Still looking for a program to create an .iso. Also, can anyone recommend a program for making a video of your computer activity? Specifically I'm thinking of videoing a hunting trip, if it doesn't get too laggy.

I don't have any personal experience with it, but most people who record games use fraps.

For the game:
We seem to get a lot of food when you hunt, but how are we doing on bullets and such? Is there anything that trading food for would be useful?

Our current status:

The only thing we're short on is money, which we probably won't need anyway. For each hunting trip there is a maximum of 200 lbs, which I usually hit as long as there is some big game, and I normally use around 4-8 bullets, so we're totally fine on that front.

IIRC this is the last trading outpost isn't it? From here on we're relying on ourselves til Oregon?

If that's the case we might as well spend the rest on non-perishables.

For an .iso maker you can use Daemon Tools-Lite. It's safe, but it's trial-ware.

I use Daemon Tools to rip ISOs and Gizmo to run virtual drives (I just really like Gizmo, for some reason.)

Cholera is soooo mainstream. You want to kill yourself with a broken arm, it's so far undiscovered by most people.
