Being that this is early spring, I'm sure the water levels aren't guaranteed to lower. So we might as well caulk again and pray to the RNG gods.

Everyone clambers into the wagon and we push off from the east bank of the river. Halfway across, Monkey lets out a shriek of "Ow! Stop poking my leg, Timmy!" to which Timmy responds by sticking out his tongue and asserting that Monkey hurt his leg on purpose so he wouldn't have to walk with the rest of us. Their argument is mercifully interrupted as the wagon gently bumps the other side of the river and everyone except Monkey moves on back out and prepares to start walking again.

We make it all the way to Fort Kearney with no trouble.

Here we have the option to rest a bit, or to buy some supplies. Remember, everything is getting more expensive already, and we only have $10.

We can also chat or try to trade with some of the other travelers. Or if everyone's ready, we can carry onwards.

We carry onward, with Monkey hopping along at a strenuous pace. Just a few days past For Kearney, we're struck with another tragedy, and this one's just one step away from Dysentery.

Probably shouldn't have drunk from that filthy ditch... We've got a ways yet to Chimney Rock. Should we stop and rest for a bit?

While we consider, some fog rolls in. Looks like we're stuck for at least one day.

People get over cholera in one day all the time, right?

Shall we carry on when the fog rolls out, or rest a bit and hope that cholera clears up? We'll also need to go hunting when the weather improves, as our food reserves are getting low (we're down to 91).

Might as well press on. Do stop to hunt if we get too low, though. No need to risk us all starving.

As long as there's someone to drive the wagon and hunt, we're golden!

Okay, after a crazy week, we're back. After the fog disperses, Urist grabs the shotgun and heads out to hunt. Plenty of deer down by the stream, and this time she takes down 5 just to be sure there's enough meat.

And then it's time to carry on! Monkey lounges in the wagon while McChar stumbles along with the rest of us, pausing every now and then to purge in various ways while everyone else stands around yelling at him to hurry the hell up. Still, we make good time despite a few more foggy days (what is this, England?) and arrive at Chimney Rock on April 23.

Our health is starting to decline a bit, probably from watching McChar spew so many times. Is anyone interested in a rest, or shall we carry on - and does everyone still feel safe at a strenuous pace?

Can't we go at a grueling pace, or something worse? If yes, do it.

I say we take a rest when we hit the Rockies, to prepare us for that leg of the journey. (Pun so totally intended.)
