Starting a new fort. It's an untamed wilds glacier, so it's a bit different from the usual.

Second glacier embark and I mostly know my way around glaciers.

Good things:

-Fortress is mostly flat
-Not a lot of unwanted animals
-Magma is only 18 z-levels down
-Caverns aren't far from the surface
-Marble

Fun things:
-No volcano
-Yetis
-Polar bears
-No water in the cavern (I play with only one cavern) so i'll need to do stuff with ice to have water
-No iron
-No bronze either
-No coal
-No soil
-The first animal that spawned in the caverns is a fucking cave dragon

I think this fort's gonna be amusing. Let's hope I get actual sieges.

I didn't know crundles are climbers.
My military killed most of them but a few escaped and clung to the walls.

It was funny to watch, as Urist McSwordMaster dashed forward, but the crundle just vanished from view.

Crundles are legendary climbers ? Odd.

GCS and maneras being legendary climbers is obvious, but crundles ?

They are climbers, obviously. But I don't know if they are legendary.

Up/down stairs are strange. A dorf killed a glob on different z level, through a stairway?

I had a rampaging Forgotten Beast (a flyer that shoots webs and is made of pineapple opal) that murdered 1/3 of my dorfs. Running out of options, I released a semi-tame roc I had captured. What I expected to be a full-blown kaiju battle with a few more dead dorfs and both monsters doing enough damage for a mutual kill.

What I got was the roc biting the FB to pieces without a single problem.

I was just getting my fortress stabilised when spring came and a wave of 28 migrants came, tripling the population of my fort. I have no seeds to plant food so everyone is probably going to starve.

Horrors! Cruddles in the caverns! The caverns are full of scruddles!

Region-pops says there are no more giant jaguars. Should I use dfusion to impregnate my giant jaguar, or should I just give in and wait for her to inevitably die of old age?

Well maybe you can try caging them all. Killing them will cause new critters to spawn.

There are only a certain amount of animals in a region, and once you kill them all, no new animals will spawn. This can be both good and bad. Good in that when all the giant thrips are dead there will be no more, but bad in that there is only one giant jaguar and I caught it already.

Are you sure? Why I get endless crundle sieges then?

Creeping eyes joined the crundles.

There are a lot of crundles in the caverns. I haven't seen any for a while, myself.

For some reason, cavern #1 no longer spawns anything. After I dug into cavern #3, I tired to open the bridge of cavern #1, but no creatures came out.

That's because you killed everything in cavern one. So should I impregnate my giant jaguar or not?
