I know.

It led to me avoiding sweet tea, so I dunno if it's any good in moderation as I've never tried it, but sugarless tea for me.

It's pretty good when it's not sweet as syrup with sugar piles in the bottom. My family goes through about half falling of sweet tea a day, sweet tea that generally isn't overly sweetened

agave nectar is the best sweetener for tea, imo.

I haven't tried that
Though I've heard good things about it
Does it taste like honey? Or what flavor does it have?

like honey but a tad sweeter and not -quite- as syrupy, but the difference is very slight.

tbf I haven't had honey in a very very long time, so it could be more than that. But agave nectar is just delicious. I don't know how it becomes tequila, that stuff is terrible.

Fermentation, micro organisms, natures process of decaying things, etc
Alcohol is actually quite disgusting IMO just because it's yeast poop

Mmmmh, yeast poop. That's why beer is such a metal beverage: It contains millions of tiny corpses, corpses of organisms that we drowned in their own excrement, in every sip you take.

Bluh, sounds like you poisoned those organisms. :P

Speaking of poison:
The first time I experienced tea, I was with my dad when he was practicing with one of his jazz bands at a friend's house. So our host asks me, because I'm so young, if I'd like to come with her to help make tea for the musicians. I ask her what tea is, and she says it's "anything you want it to be. What would you like to make some out of?" I, being a smug smartass at the time, knew that consuming rosehips would give you itchybum, so I said "I bet you can't make it out of rosehips!", to which she said "That's an excellent idea, I have some here".
I panicked, because I didn't want to actually give everyone itchybum, but she threw the rosehips and some other leaves into a basket and lowered that into the pot; I assume that it was other herbs to make an herbal tea, could have been real tea leaves though. She brings cups of it out to everyone, and they all happily drink their rosehip tea while I'm still wigging out, and I was sure I'd poisoned them all! I was positive that they would all be complaining of itchybum at the very best and dead at the worst within minutes. Of course, it didn't happen. :P
The next day I was given a formal introduction to bagged herbal teas, and to real teas too by my mom who explained to me that there was nothing to panic about last night, and that this one (earl grey) was her favorite but I might want to start with this one (peppermint).

I personally do not get people who add stuff to their tea, the taste of sugar and milk and stuff just overrides all the teaness and makes everything taste the same. That said, teh tarik is pretty awesome.

First year of college, my uncle gave me a pack of various herbal teas. I had a cup of tea early each morning and worked on homework in the basement of the college. I put it in a coffee cup and boiled it in the microwave.

Twas a bit hard to drink, it was bitter.

No what are you doing. Boil the water first then add the tea. Decoctions of anything are nasty as hell.

I only add a small amount of honey to add a bit of sweetness
I haven't noticed it taking away from it's 'teaness' from doing it...

I like my tea with creamer and agave nectar and without. I generally drink tea to calm down from anxiety, so the two additives help with that.

If it's oolong, I won't add anything because I am so used to drinking oolong without anything added.

I recently had Morning Thunder tea (has more caffeine than coffee and makes you less jittery apparently) without anything added and found that quite good.

I drink raw Kombucha an awful lot. That makes up the majority of my tea consumption.

This thread does not deserve to die.

So anyway, tea. What do you think classifies as tea? For example, do you think randomly stuffing parts of a plant into boiling liquid counts as tea?

Sounds like typical herbal tea to me.
