Oooh, another fortress with no governing kingdom?  I can dig it.  There any humans left for me to nab?

I've been poking through legends mode again and apparently I copied the fortress defense RAWs in wrong. We have several races I had no intention of putting in in the game. Furies for example. Rather puzzled by that as I could swear I left the actual folder they came in in my downloads folder and just copied what I wanted across.
Please tell me the Jotun aren't in there... I don't want to take a turn to have the Jotun show up and throw fireballs at us...

I think it'll be fine, so long as nothing has been duplicated. Though I'm sure if something was duped, we would be playing as sentient asses or something instead of humans.

On an off-topic note, I was meaning to bring up the fact that I had found a bucket that had fallen into the waterfall in the year 1 save, but after checking the most recent save it appears to have been washed away. Though it is still in the stocks menu, and zooming to it brings you to an empty tile at the base of the waterfall.

Also, could you humanize me as a glass-maker, if you don't mind? A military human will do too, if no-one is planning on using glass goods.

We're currently waiting on the person who signed up for the current turn but I'll add you both to the list.

To be humanized, would be nice.  I lack a lot of creativity in fort creation and would probably end up consigning all of us to death.

"We definitely need this magma reservoir!"

"I don't think that's such a good id-"

"Nonsense!  The dwarves do it all the time, what could possibly go wrong?"

Magma is always useful. Though I suspect it would lead to the grass catching fire and killing us all. :)

I added you both to the 'to be dorfed' list. Our population isn't fantastic for obvious reasons but we have enough humans to go around for now. I think we may start to have problems trying to redorf people that die but we can always name children after them.

EDIT: I should probably have been clearer about which list I meant in my last post. We have the turn list and the dorfing list after all and I refer to both as 'the list'...

Not yet but it's been less than a day. They may just not be checking the forums often.

If we have no response by the end of friday then we roll over to you. This turn is the one we need some matchmaking pulled off so we can get future resources children born. The lack of attacks will make our defenses seem excessive.

I'm thinking we may need to build a gatehouse around the town entrance and station some soldiers in there to ward off ambushes and catch thieves. Anyone out cutting wood will still be at risk but that's entirely normal.

That's why I wanted some time to train with my axe as a weapon... In case some kobald shows up and tries to stab me, then I just split his skull to the jaw

Don't worry highmax, the last few kobolds that showed up all seem to have been split wide open by the macemen, and I'm sure we can get you trained up in a little skirmisher squad over a year and a half or so. We just need a good recruit to spar with you and someone to pitch in with woodcutting, then we can rotate the training when you're trained so that all our woodcutters are able to defend themselves.

It's alright, I was just making sure I didn't take up a turn that would probably end up with most of us maimed or dead (That and I would either forget it was my turn or wouldn't have the time).

This is a big derp, but I just downloaded year one to see how to get it running, and I have no idea how this works. Do I just take the entire folder and drag it somewhere, or is it more complex than that?

You copy the folder into Dwarf fortress -> Data -> Save

Save has all the worlds you save in it and any worlds you put in can be loaded up in the state they were saved in.
