You can make out the outline of a person standing just beyond the range of the fire's light.

Bernant rubbed at his eyes and peered into the darkness. "Well, this is... odd, to say the least. Seems rather likely that our guest here is distracting us so his friends can sneak up behind us, eh? Unless of course they're a survivor of one of those rather nasty clan wars we saw such gruesome evidence of on the way here."

Argia wakes up and looks at the figure. "Oh, ummm..hello there"
She makes a few steps towards it.

"Hey, people. I believe we're all looking into an illusion. People just don't get...outlined like this normally."

Scan the surroundings using any scope or viewing material I have to aid me. Infrared or any other sort of lighting...

"But...a distraction seems probable. I like the silence though."

Argia walks over to Lyssian's side, standing about three meters from the unknown being. The only indication of its presense is its outline agains the sky.

The figure stays silent.

Neither Hurk nor Mira notice anything unusual about their surroundings.

"Alright, I'm going back to my post if nothing is happening. I just suspect illusion."

"Illusion or not, there is only one correct recourse in such a situation," Hurk declared, setting his shotgun aside, tugging out his autopistol and standing up with a hot cup of recaf in hand, "And that is to offer the poor fellow a drink. And possibly a bullet, if appropriate."

"Get your gun ready and if anything happens stay behind me or Lemanov."

Roth draws her laspistol, and makes sure it's loaded properly.

The whole situation was amiss. Some of them saw the figure, others didn't. Maybe it was really an illusion, create for tricking the minds of the Emperor's servants, or even a specific type of phenomenon common to Iocanthos. It was hard to analyze the situation properly, but it was still their duty to discover the figure's true nature.

Lemanov keeps staring at the figure for some moments before sighing. "This may be an illusion or simply a mysterious figure, and we can not be jumpy. I will try another way of approaching..."

Draw an "X" on the ground with the tip of the shotgun's barrel, inside the lighted area. Take a step back and point towards it while making gestures for it to come closer and step on the mark.

@All: "While I try this, can someone fetch our guides? An illusion or not, the locals may be more knowledgeable about this kind of event and maybe even know what to do in this case."

get up, quick draw my axe and shield, locate and approach the figure people are talking about.

The figure stays still silent.

Gabriel walks out of his tent, axe and shield in hand, and walks to the fire's light. From his position he can see the hint of a person in the darkness. He approaches it and stops at about the same distance as Lyssian and Argia are standing.

Lemanov breathes in deeply before moving nearer to the fire. Logical solutions, let us try you.
"Guides! May you give us your presence in this moment? I suppose the commotion could have woken you both."

Check if the fire has any branch or similar that can be safely taken out like a torch and tossed near the feet of the figure to illuminate it; alternatively, get a lantern or similar and illuminate the man. Also, call for the guides.
