((Inhibitor release is probably a bad idea in a civilian-filled station we want to keep intact.  I imagine that's more for "we're dropping you in an extremely hostile alien hellhole, go nuts on the indigenous life please"))

((That was a joke. Piecewise wouldn't do something as simple as playing Asteroids with moons and planets. They would probably be eldritch planets full of altered biomass, mindfuck and civilians to accidentally murder.))

Of course, the Sword could be pretty well equipped for that sort of thing already, but there could be extenuating circumstances that make blasting it into bits with mass drivers an unfavorable prospect.))

((Assuming you don't blast it into pieces small enough that they either burn up in the atmosphere or can't do damage individually. A thousand-ton rock dumped into the atmosphere would do a lot more than a thousand tons of cotton.))
((That's actually a misconception. The amount of energy delivered wouldn't be significantly reduced. The damage would be less localized, there will probably be a little less of a crust-shattering crater, but the total energy of the rock would just be dispersed, and would be transferred into the atmosphere. The heat from the small fragments burning up would be not be much less than what you'd have from the single rock, the overpressure shockwave would be worse, if anything, the tectonic effects would be somewhat weaker, but the amount of "ejecta" from the impact would just be replaced by an equivalent amount of asteroid dust.

So no, blasting it into lots of small fragments doesn't reduce the damage by much. The point of blasting the asteroid into small fragments is that the small fragments will deviate from the asteroid's impact trajectory, and will either miss the planet entirely or impact at a sufficiently later date from the others that the planet has time to recover.))

Hacklllllgggggggg
Thanks, Steve.

Get up, eat spoon pill.
You eat the spoon pill.

A metal helmet like dome appears on the top of your head. It swells to be over 100 pounds.

You're basically pinned to the ground by your own metallic growths at this point.

Fly my drone through the door at the end of the gangway into the next room.. after the assault team opens it, of course.

((We really should be moving these crates around to create a kill-box.  I'd do it, but I'm on this drone.))

Considering the door isn't open quite yet, I'll let you get another dynamic bonus point in  for this turn.

"Do-de-doo, I love-wait! Idea! OOH! Idea!"

There has to be some red sand around here, right? Scoop it up. Some Lyra-bits as well, yes-yes? Scoop up as much of both as possible. Deposit in pill machine. Await pill to appear.
Sand and human parts? Sure. You put them in the machine and wait till it spits out a pill.

(I should call this the "Poison" machine.)

Skylar stands over the blood stain that was Lyra triumphantly for a time. And then gets whacked in the head by one of the 10 drones flying around his head. And all 10 of the fake drones that he thinks are defending him but actually don't exist.

Owww.... okay. Good day's triage carried out. Terrible tech work... Let's fix that and get back to the task at hand...

Bring the drones back under control by putting 6 of them back on the platform. Command two of the remaining active ones to escort Feyri and shoot anything she shoots. Tell the 10 imaginary ones to fuck off.

(( Actually, please tell me that 10 drones flew out of the ship to join me, so I can call that a monumental success :P ))

(( Dev, by drone you mean scout's eye, right? Just trying to not get confused as to who does and does not have a swarm of flying hand lasers ))

(( And I approve of this pill. Can't wait to see what you turn into :P ))
(Just because you input 20 doesn't mean 20 exist. Just means they all came with you.)
[aux:4+1]
You split up your drones:6 head back to the pallet, 2 stick with you and two stick with feyri.

Astra mentally facepalms, then continues watching, she was a sentry and those cameras were her post

You sit and watch as Xan clanks to the ground, becoming increasingly armored but also increasingly immobile. Not terribly useful.

I told you about exotic weapons bro. I warned you, dog. IT KEEPS HAPPENING!
((What is that supposed to be and how does it connect with this situation?))

Quote
You try to touch Lyra's bits, but feyri slaps your hands away and makes squealing noises, staring at you with a great but  TT__TT emoticon.
((Wouldn't...the bits you are implying about be destroyed?))

Quote
So Lyra, I assume you want to be a robotic torso with human head and limbs attached?
((1. Her player's name is Lenglon.
2. Did Grate help as he intended?
3. That's an option?))

Quote
Or better yet, release the inhibitors on your avatar. Thats where the fun lies.
((...Dahn dun DAWN!))

((Anyways. For the time being, I'll assume Grate brought Lyra's head. I'll put my actions and whatnot in a separate post. Mostly so this OOC stuff doesn't end up in the middle of a turn post.))
Yeah, Lyra's bits got taken into the infirmary, I was just asking what she would like to do.

Consider hiding under a table. Consider it heavily. Then, try and think of a single great warrior known for hiding under tables, and decide that no, I should be with everyone else right now.

"I should have bought a gun. Should have bought a gun. Damnit. Well...Maybe I can find someone to hide behind or something..."
You run out and join up with the rest of the Defense team. Well, not all of it. You hide behind boxes with a few of its members rather then wandering around in the open like others. You keep an eye out for a gun to steal.

Place the bomb.

You walk all the way over to the door that Miyamoto and co. are hanging around and carefully place the bomb next to it.

Hearing the noise and screams, Denzel makes his way to the gangway in time to see what's left of Lyra being carted off. "Damn... Looks like something went wrong there... Ah well, time to get into cover."

Denzel gets into cover a little bit down the gangway.
You walk down to where the inner gangway joins with the outer one at the support cage. Everything looks clear so far. You peer off the sides of the gangway at the ground far, far FAR below. You don't see anyone running fro the underside of the ship.

((..My visor is down so no emoticons could be shown :/))

Feyri looked at the situation, and felt her rifle slump in her grip so much that it was barely even being held on. Her arms fell to the side as she saw how. . .

How ironically banal this situation was. Nothing worked right, in her viewpoint.

Stay inside Sword. Watch over Lyra. Try to ask if I could interface with the Sword's detection devices-like surface to ground radar in trying to pinpoint where anyone who isn't HMRC is.
Everyone else will be damn fine anyway.
Not like they care.

"Miss Feyri? Will...Will Lyra be okay?"
"She will, Grate. Don't..worry. She...will."
I can't tell him away.

"..Since everything outside seems alright, I think you could..wander around here a bit."
I don't know anymore..

She looked at Lyra and..well, to any observer, just stood there, but inside she was in deep mourning.
"You don't deserve this c-..you didn't deserve this."

>Not necessary. I'll give you a heads up if we see anything coming along from anywhere other then the gangway.

You stay in the infirmary, sitting on one of the beds while they take whats left of Lyra into the back.

So Lyra, I assume you want to be a robotic torso with human head and limbs attached?
((I'm not in a condition where I can voice an opinion.))

You wake up on a gurney with the doctor looking down at you. You can't feel anything below your neck, but you can see a whole hell of a lot of wires and tubes leading down from overhead into where your chest should be.

"You have experienced a minor accident. Blink once if you'd like to have your brain placed in a robot body. Blink twice if you'd like to have your head and limbs attached to a robotic torso. Blink three times if you want something else."

"Um...okay..." Grate wipes his eyes and wanders about.

Wander about, confused and sad. (And slightly useless at the moment.)
You walk in a little circle of depression.

Jobasio retreated under the flurry of slaps, grimacing more at the humiliation than anything. She would regret this, someday. Oh yes.
He sighed, and looked levelly at the nurse from a safe distance, fidgeting with Whig's strap.
"Fine, fine. Will you at least tell me what I'm supposed to be doing? Just what are we defending the ship from, anyway? ...And are you sure you couldn't spare any drugs? All this defence-team nonsense is rather stressful, you know."

>Ask just what I'm supposed to be doing. Also DRUGSSSS.

>Then go, I don't know, wherever she says I'm supposed to be. See what's up.

She directs you out to the hanger. You wander out there and find that the ship appears to have landed somewhere and that everyone is out partying on the gangway. Huh.

Theodore noticed that one of the robot people seemed to be upset with the group, probably something having to do with the death that had just occurred.  If I wasn't busy now I'd ask if she was all right.  Maybe she needs to see a psychiatrist.  Now however, there was a job to be done.
Maintain position, keep an eye out for hostiles.
Loading....Loading....Loading...Do not turn off your brain.....loading...
Charles prepares a speech to rally the HMRC forces. He also takes two ClF3 rounds out of his magazine and hands them to Xan.
You mentally rehearse a speech while handing your bullets to the dangerous, omnicidal maniac.

"Right. Fortification. Anyone who needs something productive to do get over here and help."

Look at the crates, and determine if and how they can be moved. Ask Steve if he knows which crates have vital equipment in them, and move them into the hangar. Crates with less vital supplies will be positioned to form walls at the end of the gangway, the middle, and in front of the hangar. Leave a gap in the middle and hangar walls, and position crates to be able to seal the gap quickly. Clear all other crates into the hangar. Ask Steve where the most vulnerable point of the cradle near our location is.

((Preparations! Walls of text! Complex actions thought about over a twelve hour shift! Sleep now.))

The crates can be moved via hover trolleys which have been left scattered around when the crewmen ran for it.

>Don't worry about it, really. Anything lost here can be rebuilt easily using the planet's manufacturing capacities. Just stay away from anything marked "Mun-Ex". Also, why do you want to know that about the cradle?

You set up the boxes as you planned, forming barriers along the length of the gangway.

"I agree with him. We should prepare in case things go badly."
Look for an elevated area with good visibility.
Well, you could go climb into the support cradle. Or just on top of one of the crates. Either would probably work.

((Woah wait what?! People said Lenglon had it coming to her?

...*throws hands up*))
I don't think thats it. My comment was more about the futility of trying to find a "Safe" exo weapon.

Why are there children here? Why are children on a sustained repeating death row? Why are they fighting in the first place?

Be ready to defend the ship. Use the rifle to focus on attackers. Heat a 1-foot sphere in the center of mass of any attackers that come rather than firing the rifle, though.

Assess the situation in general. And specifically, can we advance to another set of cover ahead on the gangway, without losing the choke point advantage?

Spoiler: Gorat 'Chin' Ivanos (click to show/hide)
Well morul basically just created several more choke points via boxes, so yeah, you're pretty much good.

Keep scope pointed at any entrance Sods or other enemies will come from.

Keep watching for sods. If sods present themselves, make their heads do a radical 360° spin. same old.
Those assault team guys are really ruining your chances of a heroic last stand by just hanging around and not letting the hordes in.
Stand behind crate and get ready for theoretical wave of theoretical bustas'.
Hellza Ballza.

Scoop some more of Lyra and some more sand and put both into the machine again - this time in the opposite order. Then eat the Sand-Lyra pill I have.
