"Hm, I don't have a military yet, or reasonable defenses. Oh well, I'm sure I'll have enough time to get both of them."

Cue ambush.

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.
Quote from: Ze Spy
Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

"My serrated disc-traps will stop them!"

Cue said traps getting jammed on the first victim.

My first encounter with the circus:

"My 6-dwarf untrained militia can handle Hell's demons. Right?"

(As it happens, they couldn't. There were only four dwarves left alive and half the map was burning. Then the game crashed. :()

"I know, if I open the drawbridge and then close it immediately, my cage traps will deal with teh first wave of goblins, and my military will deal with any that get past.  Repeat, and the siege will eventually be broken."

Engraved on the floor is a well-designed image of a kobold and a carp.  The kobold is making a plaintive gesture.  The carp is laughing.

Time to channel the side of the volcano and flood the outside world! No more seiges! No more thieves! No more Giant Moose! Permanent death to all those husks in the south of the map! Hmm, sure hope there's a soil layer in this mountain somewhere.

Husks are magmaproof aren't they? :P

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

Wether they are or not, nothing is cave-inproof. Or obsidianproof. Or iceproof.

Proof. What an odd word...

Well they all fell in the river and were encased in cooling rock. But the point is I cut myself off from all soil. You know what that means...

If you have access to water you can irrigate. If you have access to a trade depot you can trade. It's not quite as bad as it looks. :P
