If it does pass, we'll all just take up that boycott, and teach them the meaning of the term "Market Backlash".

Liberal Crime Squad has shown everyone here what will happen if this foul Conservative SOPA passes.

...come to think of it, Toady and Tarn could be the LCS itself, creating games to spread liberalism around the internet!

Either way, good to see this piece of shit not bothering us at least for a while, and if it passes.....I'm fairly certain the Crime Squad will siege the congress to change things.

Yep because we're all voting on it.... oh wait.

If it does pass, we'll all just take up that boycott, and teach them the meaning of the term "Market Backlash".

You mean just like every video game boycott ever?... oh wait

I am sort of taking it in stride

I KNOW something like SOPA will pass eventually because there is very little interest capital in not passing it (afterall no one became president because of chat forums)

Maybe, but you have to have people vote for you to become president.

No, you don't become president or congressperson because of a forum, or something.

You don't become one of those by passing stupid laws either, though, especially when the people who started the bill have no idea what they're talking about. Make up all the numbers and statistics you want about revenue, or american jobs, or whatever; if you're arguing with someone who knows more than you on a subject they'll wipe the floor with your "facts".

If SOPA gets in, it will cause the death of the internet :(
Ok, I know SOPA is really bad, but this kind of sentiment I keep hearing is really way to extreme. If it passes, the world will keep on turning, and the internet will keep on running, if in a very crippled form.

It won't be the first time people have lived under a great injustice. Think about drafting and the Vietnam war, or the whole "separate but equal" thing.

But We have an opportunity to stop this one before it starts.

IRTA "cat forums".  That is all.  It deserves some photoshopping that I'm not currently prepared to do, though.  (Well, GIMPing, anyway.)

Except, latest OpenSenate tally is 33 for (32 being co-sponsors), 38 against, 29 other.

I'm curious, what was the tally prior to the protest?

No, it was 40 for, and then against and other was the rest of the Senate.

Well, I woke up this morning/afternoon to find a return e-mail from my representative firmly stating in no uncertain terms that he opposes SOPA, a development which greatly pleases me.  Now I need to remember to actually vote for that guy next election.

Unfortunately, neither of my senators has gotten back to me; one of them is leaning no(until he can see the "final draft of the bill"), and the other is a co-sponsor, but currently in Asia for some reason, so he's not responding to anyone at the moment...

For what its worth, it seems that 34 senators are supporting it right now (33 are cosponsors), 33 against, and 33 uncommitted.
Compared to 40 yes, 5 no, 55 uncommitted before the blackout started.
Basically no one was strongly supporting it.
