Have Armok try and find who hacked the ship registry. and don't take all of our crew out of that cargo-ship, we don't want to leave it undefended. Should we consider taking it back to the station?

Considering we don't own it, and that the military cruiser is looking for it: NO
The cargoship doesn't need crew to defend it, as it is remote controlled.

Very poorly emote controlled. And they might hack our remote control anyway, we know we're up against a hacker.

PS - can I have a character? Just about anything will do.

I do some work getting the AI accommodated to directly control every system; granting access privileges, explaining undocumented features of my code, and using some advanced electronics to set up/restore a better nervous system of low latency, low level access connections across the ship.

I propose producing a specialized control modality for the AI which would essentially make the it's body the same way an animal has it; learning direct motoric skills integrated with it's cognition at a much more nuanced level than any standardized protocol, http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embodied_cognition , subconscious body language... Yea, there's reasons this isn't standard; it'd have to be redone from scratch for another AI, the level of intimacy and risk of potential discomfort might make certain types of AIs object (other kinds love it), there is a risk of accidents with subconscious movements of something as large as a ship, it's hard to debug and prone to quirks... but there are clear benefits and would give us an edge in combat. And it CAN easily be turned on and of in a way a human can't separate itself from it's body.

I also grudgingly follow Angles suggestion to check up on the registry thing once I've done these more fun bits and gotten to socialize a bit.

You use 5 units of advanced electornics and a number of other parts to improve the existing ship network.
In the years since the Firestar was constructed many of it's systems have been superseded by better technology but you manage to adapt the older networking solutions to use and work with the newer developments.
The overall result is a significant decrease of latency and a heavily interconnected efficent computer system.

You put considerable work into building a complicated interaction system so that the AI could have complete and efficent control of the ship as if it were a body for it to inhabit.
The inbuilt restrictions against AIs having a physical presence provides a considerable obsticle to this task.
You manage to get around that problem by sacrficing certain apsects of it.
As a result the end product is not perfect and reportedly fairly strange and surreal for the AI.
But it is the best you can do with an AI with such restrictions and far better than the standard protocols.
After this it is finaly time for that feast which was prepared earlier that day.
Everyone eats double rations in the party and it acts as a warm welcome to the new crewmembers.

Search what  the salvage laws are in these regions.
A ship counts as missing once it has been reported as not having reached it's destination.
After a month of being missing the ship is considered lost all onboard crew and passangers are marked as dead.
For legal purposes a missing ship is exactly like a ship being destroyed, the insurance pays out and anyone who finds the remains can claim salavage on them.
Occasionaly when a ship goes missing or is destroyed the owner can file for sole salavage rights even if it can't be found, though this is rarely done.
Salavage claims also have exirpation dates so if nothing is found or the ship isn't salavaged within two years or so of the claim it becomes the property of the next person to claim salavage on it.

Sure what kind of position on the ship due you want?

Hey, someone forgot to refuel the drone.

Anyway, that disorientation is just to expect really. For this technology to reach it's full potential, real world practice is needed, and some of the surreality can probably only be cured by simply spending sufficient time with the system on getting used to it. (I assume simulation practice until diminishing returns was counted as part of the development process and abstracted away)

SUGGESTION FOR ENTIRE SHIP: Head out somewhere for from anything that could get damaged, and have the ship grind manoeuvring XP from fuel and time.

Can we check and see who (if anyone) has salvage claims for the cargoship?

I'm sure we can, be discreet though.

Are there anymore people who need things being blown up? except the cargo ship.

We should make some more money while we wait for the crew at the ship to get sorted.

Well, we're currently trying to catch that hacker. If we leave the station, he's probably going to get away.

For my character, I'm thinking some kind of weapons specialist, Maybe on the run from someone or another and seeking refuge?

It hasn't been reported as missing (or stolen)yet so it's not up for salavage.

Oh thats true.

Current Contracts;
Escourt Frieghter to Galvenn (the frieghter contains nothing important but it's captain has refused to pay a pirates protection racket and expects trouble)
Destroy a stolen cargo vessel in the scrapfield which is carrying dangerous cargo
Join search and rescue attempts to locate a missing scavanger vessel
Search for a lost family heirloom.

For my character, I'm thinking some kind of weapons specialist, Maybe on the run from someone or another and seeking refuge?
Tabien is something of a haven for people that don't want to be found being the backwater trash heap that it is.
It's more than likely your not the only such person on the Firestar.

Have the crew leave the cargo ship, they will be out of food soon. Have them write up some kind of auto response to any hails, that way we can give the perception the ship is still crewed. Honestly, whether they are on board or not would not change the situation in the event pirates get on board or something..

Hey, someone forgot to refuel the drone.
Oops, I forgot about that. Fuel the drone up.
Buy like 300 in food (That will last us 10 days). We need to factor in food and support costs when we hire on that many crew guys, we can't just fill up the ship..
Have the AI work on our thrusters and maneuvering systems.
Have the crew begin work on repairing that damaged assembler drone. Also what does an assembler drone do?
Can we tell if the hackers ship is closed to being unloaded or anything at all? Maybe computer logs of what hes doing, planned departure time or something?
