It's hard to tell at this point. Clean up is a funny thing, it can go really fast or agonizingly slow depending on the bug. It could come out anytime.
In fact it could have come out 30 seconds ago.
Don't do that to me. I actually checked the front page.

You know whats funny. I checked the front page, right before I went to this thread. Read that post.

It /almost/ made me go back to the front page.

Anyone that believed in this "30 seconds ago" shtick seems to have little experience with Toady or programming in general (no practice or knowledge need, observation is enough). It is obvious that it will take a while yet before release. January? Optimistically.

No way. I'd say that we're looking at later this month optimistically, December pessimistically. Toady is blazing through most of these bugs and even the most extreme ones only take up a day of work. Now, maybe the release will be fundamentally broken when it comes out and we won't get a cleaned up bug free version for a while, but I'd say we're pretty close to release.

That is, unless he gets sidetracked AGAIN  ::)

Do not doubt the power of the Toad! Either by the end of this month or somewhere in the middle of the next we'll have something, even if it's full of Fun bugs.

Supposing, of course, that we all don't have a stroke the moment it's out.

I think Toady's appartment floats in another dimesion at light speed, so he already finished DF, the problem is that to a message cross all the time and space between our dimesions it takes a lot of time, that's why we're receiving old dev logs not the ones from the 9.35.12 version.

I broke the "Cannot follow order" message for soldiers into about a dozen hopefully helpful messages.

BETTER INTERFACE! IN DF!

On topic: first release in this year, first usable in January/February.

I think later this month sounds realistic. It would also make sense, it being Halloween at the end of the month + this being the night creatures release...

Sure sign for end of world in December 2012.

Judging from 0.31 series, I would bet January as release month, something playable (defined as relative lack of "GOD kill me, just kill me" bugs) in 2-3 months and 4-6 months later end of bugfix releases for new series.

I am personally sad there was no in-middle release (feature creep should cause it, say, just after doing city underground and before undeads). With its own bug-fix release, of course. Ah well.

Perhaps this is a pre-release silence! He hasn't updated in a few days.
