But that still leaves the problem of what weapons/armor actually does.

With a stat system in place, you could adjust the power scales by having something like:

Low level item: Minor bonus like "+1 to praying every three turns (you will notified when it's the third turn)"
Mid level item: +1 to Perception
High level item: +1 to attack with this weapon

Or something like that, or some combination. Just my ideas, it's your game after all, do whatever you want, we enjoy it regardless (ESPECIALLY the crafting system; if I had thought to, I'd have included that in MKWRTD! It would certainly have helped with the power scaling problem)

That would work, yes yes. I think for crafting things, each successful craft will add one 'level'. There will be 9 levels in all, 3 levels to get from a basic item to a low level item, 3 to get from a low level item to a mid level item, and 3 to get from mid to high level item. Gods and the audience will NEVER gift high level items, at the most Mid-level items, to encourage crafting. I will attempt to make it so that the bonus's for each weapon/armor will try to correlate a little bit with the item itself. So, your Shovel Whip, Freeform, would be a level 1 basic item. Larry's Holy Whip would be a level 0 low level item... yes, it is all coming together.

Next turn, I will add these new additions.

So Elfeater, next turn you look around to see what you can... attack?

So... I'm trying to get this straight. When we pray to a god, on a success we get an item, some effect or a temporary aura, and when we fail something terrible happens related to the god's powers? Additionally, are we only allowed to grab one item per turn?

If you pray to a god, really anything can happen that is kind of to do with their aspects. Say, you prayed to your god of healing and drowning. If you got a 3 or some such, nothing would really happen, if you got a 6 perhaps she would bless your shovel-whip so that you could use it to heal one minor strike every 5 turns? Or if you got a 2 or a 1 perhaps she would afflict upon you one minor strike, since who can heal can also injure. Or just make the room you are in suddenly fill with water, perhaps? Really, there are not any defined rules to praying.

I will lightly step forward, spin, and kick Monk in the chest, with the aim to knock him into the lava already. I shall then scoop up the metal vial(and examine it closely if I have time this turn, Ie: is it empty or what is in it if not.).

That would be entertaining.

I would happily be a part of this.

(esp. when you consider these rules are so easy to use they could be applied in a wide variety of situations even outside of gladiatorial fights)
