What the hell happened to "sticks and stones"?
We got sick of broken bones and harm from words....
I think my last "but seriously" statement was grossly misunderstood. Me demanding the right to make fun of other people? Oh, the hilarity.
I don't need to demand, I just do that .
In an autistic "I don't see how it contributes to the problem, it's sexists and racists that contribute to the problem"-way.
If me making a gay joke makes it easier for someone else to beat up a gay guy in the street the next night, I will NOT take responsibility for that.
If me making a sexist joke makes a girl feel uncomfortable, that is her problem, again. I will treat her as an equal (worth) in every way I would treat any man, but will not sacrifice Humor (yes, MY humor, I don't really care if you find it funny) for anyone's feelings, that is really doing it the wrong way around.
If making a racist joke actually makes me a racist, so be it. As far as I know, I'm pretty colorblind when it comes to race, and never treated anyone differently for it, and you thinking otherwise is again, your problem.
I think I just fail to see how not making sexist/racist/any other joke, or not insulting anyone, stops actual discrimination or physical assault, and refuse to change my behaviour because other people disagree on that point.
(In my defense, I never make jokes about rape, nor find them funny)
(In other news, every line of this post started with an I, except for the next one. I think I'm a bit in an egoistic mood today.)
(Truean: Good for you, and courageous to come out. I hope these fora treat you differently. What I did miss was "jokes about trans" in your "It pisses me off"-chapter. Could you stand jokes about transsexuals, made by a non-transsexual? And even then, how would you not know that I secretly am a closet-trans as well and what you interpreted as a demeaning joke was actually self deprecating?)
*smirks, chuckles like I'm looking at a 5 year old really, really trying in vain to kick my ass... *
If it takes one to know one, then I am one and would know one if I saw one. You aren't one. Additionally, I know more than a few closeted transsexuals from a support group or two. We're exceptionally quiet on account of being positively terrified of the repercussions of not fitting in. Furthermore we'd never say anything like what you've said here, because we actually get what it's like to have all of society look at us like we aren't human.
If you're not trolling, then you're rather close to it:
If you are trolling, then some pointers:
Bad form on your part by the way, amateur really. Completely unoriginal. It's not that I'm not used to trolling; as I've said I've gotten craptons of hate email. It's that your form is lacking. False compliment, followed by nitpicking, followed by asking a question you know or should know the answer to, then to hypothetically seeking to justify your offensiveness.

The first and second sentences are a false compliment as all the others prove. You then nitpick about me not expressly saying jokes about transsexuals piss me off in a previous post. You know or should know the answer, because nearly every single one of my posts here have said I find jokes against women offensive, etc, and you've been following this thread.... Then, you ask me how I know you're not trans yourself thus making any trans jokes you would make justified as "self depreciating," Moreover, it's yet more cover for you to attempt to agitate and proclaim your own awesomeness and right to insult people, which, screw all, you don't need to ask for, you just take....

You've made a racist, post here before, and I sorta batted you away for it before, for making proclamations that white people are a minority and implying that "other people pretending to be minorities" should just shut up already.
Your Racist post:
As a member of the white minority (yes, caucasians are a minority in the world) I demand equal rights to draw the racism card. Whoop, there it is.
Seriously, yesterday I was talking to a chinese guy who was making fun of chinese people. But if I do it it's suddenly wrong and racist. In that same conversation a gay guy started cracking gay jokes. White guys never get to have any fun.

I mostly agree with you, but I also believe that the only way to achieve excellence is by striving for perfection.
I disagree. I've come to like "imperfections". In people, in nature, everywhere. Definition of "imperfection" being (but not limited to): inhomogenous, broken symmetry, unexpected, faulty, chaos.
My batting you away for it before,
....
If you can't see the difference between self depreciating humor and making fun of someone with the purpose of knocking them down, then there's something wrong....
I find it hilarious, all of this. Wow, just wow. The gist of your argument is that you are somehow oppressed by some grand false conspiracy of people who aren't being fair by demanding "bullshit" "equal" "rights." As if they were never really oppressed and have nothing to complain about. Said "bullshit" complaining is a nuisance to you and should stop, or to make things "fair" you should be able to make fun of them....
Basically, your gist is:
"It is actually you who are oppressed by 'so called minorities' because '(yes, caucasians are a minority in the world).' So clearly you're the "true minority." And how dare anyone else consider not letting you make fun of them. How dare they, don't they realize you have a right to do so and it's simply not fair not to allow you that right? After all their self depreciating humor aimed at their own selves is the same as decades and centuries of other people making fun of them, and in some cases actually or constructively enslaving them, so 'clearly' you should be able to dress down other people based on race, gender, sexual orientation and whatever the crap else you feel like!
After all, you, as a white guy, like all white guys, never get to have any fun...."
Do you realize that is exactly what you're saying? Yes it is. The only possible redeeming quality is the possibility that you didn't realize you said it.
*sneezes* O I'm ... I'm sorry I'm allergic to bullshit and ... this is just... sneezing weather... all around this mess....
Your "demand" is denied....
Just... yeah, stop already, you're kind of embarrassing yourself at this point, and I'm not sure if you think you're being funny or what, but yeah... not workin' out for ya.
As for whatever this is:
If me making a gay joke makes it easier for someone else to beat up a gay guy in the street the next night, I will NOT take responsibility for that.
It's kinda disproved when you said this:
(In my defense, I never make jokes about rape, nor find them funny)
Why? Hum? Because if you making a rape joke makes it easier for someone else to rape up a woman in the street the next night, you implicitly take some responsibility for that?
.... It's somehow ok if the joke making makes it easier to beat the shit out of a gay guy, but not if the joke makes it easier to rape someone? Because these aren't equally despicable actions and who cares if a gay guy gets beaten up?
....

As to everyone else, I would like to thank those of you who have surprisingly for me, expressed support in thread or in my inbox. Truthfully I logged on with an impending sense of dread, because I've done this before online, once (and only once for a reason) and been rode out on a rail. One video game form netted me 293 emails in three days after I casually mentioned how I was in 2004, my first year of college. I was called things that were utterly unprintable, even here. Maybe that's from an earlier time and video game culture informed by Duke Nukem, and I hope so. But, then I log onto battle.net and see the word "faggot," "gay," etc constantly.... "Our character is who we are in the dark when no one else is watching," runs through my mind....
I'm rather glad that hasn't happened here. I want to believe this is a better community, but the cynical part of my mind, which who are we kidding is the overwhelming majority of my mind, tells me it's only because I didn't post in a main thread and that the thread I did post in was full of progressives. I must apologize because I'm well aware I come across as a bitter person. I have a simple explanation, you see I am one.... I confess it's because I've been everything from beaten the hell out of and dropped off at a hospital as a John Doe with seven broken ribs, to blackmailed (by my own sister) over this. If my wounds show raw, this is why.
For whatever it may mean to you, thank you. I appreciate your support. It helps to overcome all I'm underneath.
"The measure of a man is what he does to men he owes nothing to. All men are by nature equal, made all of the same earth by the same Workmen; and however we deceive ourselves, as dear unto the Gods is the poor peasant as the mighty prince." ~Plato
As to women's rights. We've know this for Thousands of years:
"Nothing can be more absurd than the practice that prevails in our country of men and women not following the same pursuits with all their strengths and with one mind, for thus, the state instead of being whole is reduced to half." ~Originally Plato and refined by Aristotle
@ Vector, I'd be honored if you'd use female pronouns in reference to me in this thread. Thank you.
@Africa: I live near Cleveland Ohio and grew up in a very rural area. Granted, its somewhat worse in rural areas, but there is no "good place" I've heard of regarding this.
