Hoho you don't even know how close you are with that phrase. The reason why I'm so freaked out is the stuff kills quick, the ingredients are easy to find, and you can make it in an hour. Then again I guess the same could be said for meth, minus the killing, sorta.

What's weird is death by draino or lye, how it takes days but it just slowly dissolves your body, turning you into sheets of soap. Here's the awful part though, you start to throw up after a couple hours, sheets of your own organs, now turned into glycerin and crude red soap. So that's the lesson today kids, don't drink alkaline solutions.

Naw, we're talking about poisons and their effects. That is very terrifying!

I don't see a single mention on how to apply said poisons.

Except wikipedia.

Wikipedia is out to get me.

That's debatable. Probably not as nasty a way to go (either an accident while cooking it up or just being a user), but probably responsible for a hell of a lot more deaths on the grand scale of things.

That's why the sorta was tossed into the mix.

A) The quote's a *bit* different.
B) There's a bit about chemical warfare. Can't be arsed to find it :P

Though I did come across this;
  • willful killing, torture or inhumane treatment, including biological experiments.

Thesis; Dwarf Fortress is not in fact a fantasy world simulator, rather a social experiment to see what happens when you put an entire species in the hands of mankind.
    I think we're doing well.
    C) Not even the 3rd person will vaguely imply something anymore.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlorine_trifluoride

“It is, of course, extremely toxic, but that's the least of the problem. It is hypergolic with every known fuel, and so rapidly hypergolic that no ignition delay has ever been measured. It is also hypergolic with such things as cloth, wood, and test engineers, not to mention asbestos, sand, and water-with which it reacts explosively. It can be kept in some of the ordinary structural metals-steel, copper, aluminium, etc.-because of the formation of a thin film of insoluble metal fluoride which protects the bulk of the metal, just as the invisible coat of oxide on aluminium keeps it from burning up in the atmosphere. If, however, this coat is melted or scrubbed off, and has no chance to reform, the operator is confronted with the problem of coping with a metal-fluorine fire. For dealing with this situation, I have always recommended a good pair of running shoes.”

Element? Well, I guess any element with an unstable nucleus would make a delicious cookie...
IIRC, it's non-radioactive.

there is also an element that literally unstitches proteins in the body, causing your cells to simply die off.
which, to say the least, must hurt.

also, biology taught me that cyanide kills by non-competitively inhibiting an enzyme used for metabolic functions, so you'll die of lethergy.
very rapidly.

Cyanide kills because it blocks oxygen from being used in action potentials.

I have a question.

How do they know it's toxic?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Presumably the chemists know enough about chemistry to predict what might occur if it were not such a violent compound.

But back in reality it makes water explode, so that really doesn't matter.

It has an LD50 so of course it's toxic.

Then again, so does everything else.
