I opened the toilet door. Suddenly, a THING started running at my infected toe. I have absolutely no idea what it was. It looked like it was either a lizard, cockroach or huge, deformed grasshopper.

Prolly a house centipede- they like to hang out in bathrooms at night and I think light confuses them. Let them be- they look scary but don't harm anybody and I believe they eat some form of harmful bug.

Those guys are my favorite centipede. They don't get very big but they are pretty neat.

So today I was, not so much "terrified", as "startled and then unnerved".  I live in BC, and there are huge pine trees right behind my house.  Now, I've been playing Alan Wake recently, which is set in the pine forests of Washington; basically the same thing.  The monsters in that game only come at you in the darkness and tend to be announced by the wind picking up and the trees blowing around.
So I was taking the trash out back.  It's night, and for whatever reason the usual neighbourhood lights aren't all that bright.  And then the wind picked up and the pine trees started bending and swaying...
I've never had a stronger urge to get inside where it's light then in that exact moment.  Ugh.
