I found out the hard way that the K7 Avenger does seven metric butt-tons of damage in about half a second. I'm also getting to the point where the enemies are super dangerous and can land a shot most of the time, so sometimes it boils down to who shoots first.

EDIT: Also, I must have accidentally shot the President about five times now. He keeps running in front of me when I'm trying to protect him. Rare, you know I love you, but you really gotta quit with the escort missions.

So i'm in the final dungeon, the Lunar Subterrane. Get down to B7. I'm level 65 with most of my characters.

The mobs in this dungeon are pretty easy.
Moonmaidens only deal ~700 damage even to the squishy mages, and are taken care of quickly with a few well placed blizzagas to the face.
Lil' Murderers don't even move except to cast Libra on themselves before going down.
Dark Sages are nasty, but don't get a chance to knock out more than one party member before themselves falling.
Behemoths are tiresome but easy enough to predict. (44000 health, only melees unless you hit it with a spell. Simple enough to just set up Blink on everyone and be immune to melee for a few turns.)

I don't even see these mecha's names before they destroy me. I was very lucky and got to B7. I think that's one before Zemus, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I get the dreaded message 'Surprised' when i enter battle. That, for you Final Fantasy Philistines, means that the enemy gets a free turn.

It chooses Laser Barrage. That's ~2.8k to the entire party. Okay, no problem. Rosa survived with ~20hp. Edge on ~200. Cecil on 1200. Kain on about 500. Rydia, as usual, fainted.

What does it choose for its next turn, half a freakin' second later? I was setting up a Curaga with Rosa and Edge to use Smoke (100% chance to escape when cast) when it used
LASER BARRAGE

again. Well shit. That's 30 minutes of slogging through a difficult dungeon, getting to the 7th floor, with no save points, and getting run through by a RANDOM ENCOUNTER.

I know that Final Fantasy IV DS was made very difficult, but goodness.

[snip]

I think those are Wicked Masks you're talking about. In the GBA version it casts Reflect on itself and your entire party, which is a pain in the ass if you're trying to blaze through to the end since you have to wait for it to finish casting before you can whup it's ass. They're also pretty freaky looking.

On my end, "Air Force One: Crash Site" is probably the cheapest FPS level in existence. Area 51 is doable once you've tried it a few times, but Crash Site is ridiculous:

- Huge level with no clear directions and few landmarks
- Vaguely-worded objectives
- Escort mission
- Enemies that respawn at the slightest provocation
- Enemies that can see farther than you
- Enemies hidden by render fog until they're right in your face (a la Turok)

Damn those cheap-ass snipers. If it weren't for the fantastic levels that had already come before and are coming up, this level would probably ruin the game for me.

In the DS version they seem to either laser barrage or spam reflect on everything. Either way, incredibly annoying. I've seen both happen, but thankfully not in the same encounter.

It was the Armored Fiend, for those asking.

Wicked Masks aren't so bad, I haven't got up to them yet.

Practicing my Alteration with that cheap shield spell you buy from Edgar, when a nearby NPC thought I tried to pimp-slap her(in hindsight, I probaby should have).

Five seconds later: "It's over, law-breaker!! Either pay the fine, or it's off to jail with you! Oh, and I'm CONFISCATING YOUR STOLEN GOODS!!"

Doing normal lawyer-y things (drinking and playing on the arcade machines) when I hear a report of the clown disabling cameras. I go to talk to the clown before he beats the shit out of me with a crowbar. I manage to wobble away and into the medbay where he breaks off and leaves. I get healed up and things proceed as normal. Then the clown kills a guy, starts rigging doors to crush people, and fucks with atmospherics. The mime manages to release the singularity to convince the AI to call the emergency shuttle. I hide in my office until it's almost time; then run to an escape pod, where I get in one with the captain. It's here that the captain stuns me, chokes me and sucks out my insides. The captain was a changeling. As I found out INSIDE the escape pod. Which is one tile wide. And I was at the front. Sucks yo.

It was one of the best starts I've ever had. I'd found a hammer, some nails, a wood saw, and a shovel. I had found a whole cache of clean water and canned foods; enough to last for a long time. I had traps readily available. The only thing missing was a good safe house. So I decided to just use the starting evac center.

That was my mistake. The npc there decided it would be a good idea to charge madly at a passing bear, and got hisself killed. The bear, now soured on the whole idea of humanity, went for me next.

Playing link trying to figure out how I unlock other characters besides the default  Mario, Kirby, Link, and Pikachu.  I'm on the final battle against megaman.  I set the entire arcade mode to one life, thinking that maybe I'll unlock somebody if I do it all on one life.

Megaman is on his last life, we are both high %.  Megaman is on his stupid helicopter platform above me I throw a bomb up and follow with a jumping spinslash, he hits the bomb but isn't knocked off the stage, and the spinslash misses, as I'm falling to the ground recovering from the spinslash megaman drops a crash bomb on the floor right where I landed.  *boom* and off the top of the stage I go.

As a clown, I accidentally walked into the dorm showers. Three confirmed changelings and a traitor with an energy sword was there.

Needless to say, I did not survive.

Turns out making a Fighting deck for use against Steve is a bad idea because Zapdos has resistance to it, and most Fighting cards don't have very strong attacks. Machoke and Machamp do, but I did not find even a single Machoke through the whole game. Machamps and Machops I had aplenty, but no Machokes.

Anyway Zapdos just spammed that Big Thunder attack to kill every card on my bench.

Dragonflies, giant frogs, and many other creatures that I didn't even knew existed in the game made quick work of me when I wandered a little too close to a swamp. ;_; The worst part was, the fact that I just discovered my river-side shelter. Not only two hours and I get... swampified.

Methinks me remembered why I avoided the swamps like the plague in all of my previous plays...
