I feel like this has come up before, but have you tried Popeye's? It's basically completely replaced KFC as my go-to source for fried chicken and everything related. Especially the biscuits. Oh sweet merciful Emperor, the biscuits. They're so good.
I've not been asked about popeye's specifically before, to the best of my knowledge (though fast food joints have come up a time or few, previous), but... well. I have been to a couple, but there's apparently regional differences because the ones around here are quite thoroughly mediocre. Like, worse than KFC level stuff. Only marginally worse, but it is what it is. Was a fair ways back, so maybe it's changed since I last visited one, but...
Honestly, I'm not really aware of any
really good chicken places in this area. There's a lot of them, but they're all kinda' iffy, insofar as I recall. Generally edible, but not something to make specific note of. You want
good chicken without doing the cooking, you walk around the neighborhood(s) until you find a little old lady willing to cook it and unwilling to shoot you. Same for biscuits, really.
That's disseminating heard opinion to a degree, though. I've been to a fair number (perhaps something of an understatement) of places that serve fried chicken over the years, but my tastes in chicken are notably against the apparent norm -- I like my chicken considerably drier than most people seem to. Juicy chicken is generally a turnoff for me, so most fried chicken -- most chicken I don't personally cook, really -- is a bit of a letdown.
Still, chicken wise, popeye's and KFC is about on par, here. Taste about the same, even if the taste doesn't entirely suit me. Don't recall the biscuits for the former, though... it
has been quite a while since I last went to one. Still, I may give popeye's a shot if at some unlikely point in the future I feel like eating chicken in a fast food place.*
*Note: Chance of this actually happening is basically zero -- I haven't personally chosen to eat at a restaurant/fast food joint in... something like four or five years, I think. Maybe more. Rode along with others during the interim, but of own choice... no. Rather cook. Prefer to by significant orders of magnitude. Better food, cheaper food, usually quicker food (counting the ride), much quieter, etc., etc., etc. I just don't like eating out anymore
