...I think KFC is decent.

Better than Taco Bell, at least. Right? Guys?...right?
Same company, yo.

They are indeed the same company. And Taco Bell is better. And Kentucky Fried Chicken is always out of chicken anyway.

Which is in turn blown out of the water by Church's Chicken.

Which is nowhere near as common as Popeye's. At least as far as I've seen.

Not where I live. Good like finding a Popeye's, but a Church's can be found practically every time you turn the corner.

There is a single Church's Chicken within 50 miles of here (according to my GPS), and the only other one I've seen was in Missouri :P

I feel like this has come up before, but have you tried Popeye's? It's basically completely replaced KFC as my go-to source for fried chicken and everything related. Especially the biscuits. Oh sweet merciful Emperor, the biscuits. They're so good.
I've not been asked about popeye's specifically before, to the best of my knowledge (though fast food joints have come up a time or few, previous), but... well. I have been to a couple, but there's apparently regional differences because the ones around here are quite thoroughly mediocre. Like, worse than KFC level stuff. Only marginally worse, but it is what it is. Was a fair ways back, so maybe it's changed since I last visited one, but...

Honestly, I'm not really aware of any really good chicken places in this area. There's a lot of them, but they're all kinda' iffy, insofar as I recall. Generally edible, but not something to make specific note of. You want good chicken without doing the cooking, you walk around the neighborhood(s) until you find a little old lady willing to cook it and unwilling to shoot you. Same for biscuits, really.

That's disseminating heard opinion to a degree, though. I've been to a fair number (perhaps something of an understatement) of places that serve fried chicken over the years, but my tastes in chicken are notably against the apparent norm -- I like my chicken considerably drier than most people seem to. Juicy chicken is generally a turnoff for me, so most fried chicken -- most chicken I don't personally cook, really -- is a bit of a letdown.

Still, chicken wise, popeye's and KFC is about on par, here. Taste about the same, even if the taste doesn't entirely suit me. Don't recall the biscuits for the former, though... it has been quite a while since I last went to one. Still, I may give popeye's a shot if at some unlikely point in the future I feel like eating chicken in a fast food place.*

*Note: Chance of this actually happening is basically zero -- I haven't personally chosen to eat at a restaurant/fast food joint in... something like four or five years, I think. Maybe more. Rode along with others during the interim, but of own choice... no. Rather cook. Prefer to by significant orders of magnitude. Better food, cheaper food, usually quicker food (counting the ride), much quieter, etc., etc., etc. I just don't like eating out anymore :P

Doesn't help at all how bloody expensive it can be, even if you go to the you-get-what-you-pay-for fast food joints. Eating out regularly is a choice between quickly killing your pocketbook and slowly killing your health; lentils and rice are forever, and just one decent pepper can flavor a whole pot enough to taste, especially if you find a farmer's market or something with people that sell really murderous ones.

It looks like there's only two Popeye's in the entirety of Wisconsin: one in Madison and one in Lake Geneva. And there's only one Church's Chicken: in Milwaukee.

PREEDIT: Actually, it looks like the Popeye's in Lake Geneva has nothing to do with the fried chicken franchise; it's just a place called Popeye's.

Actual Edit: Actually, it seems Google Maps bugged out on me, and, doing the search again, it seems there's 8 Popeye's in Milwaukee and one each in Racine and Kenosha.

You really do have a lot of fast food places in the States, huh.

Yeah, it's really more near Fitchburg.

Also, doing a little map exploration, I was a little puzzled to see Jefferson quite a bit farther west than I remembered it, so looking it up, I found out that, besides the city of Jefferson in Jefferson County, there also exists four towns by the name of Jefferson. Methinks Wisconsin has a bit of a thing for the late president.
