should I expect something to happen if I add reps to the elves and dwarves and diplomats to the humans? will I be able to request goods from the caravans or it only works for those two (scripted?) cases?

Adding the guild rep to the Dwarves won't do anything at all, since the responsibility used for the Guild Representative is the same one used by the Broker. Besides, you can already request Dwarven goods from the Outpost Liaison. The guild rep can be added to the Elves, though it'll use the Human speech (since there is no Elven speech for that) and that veers into mild cheating since you aren't supposed to be able to request goods from the Elves.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

How exactly would one go about becoming a barony? I meet all the requirements listed on the wiki, but the liaison won't ask.

We were hoping for a constant fort at some point, having players in different time zones so that the fort never actually stopped running.  Come back overnight and find a giant penis has been constructed.  Glory to the penis gods.

If the liaison isn't asking, then you aren't meeting all of the requirements or there's some other bug which is completely unrelated to this discussion.

I thought you had to somehow not let the outpost liaison talk to your broker until after all the other dwarves had left? Obviously it's a bug, but I've never been able to become a barony unless I lock my broker in his room until the dwarves leave (all of them), and then unlock his room. The liaison will instantly talk to him and he'll ask about the barony. Obviously, you need to meet the requirements first though.

I'm a vile person for doing this, and sorry for The Necro, but would this work for the current version?

I know I can use DFhack to get the same effect, but I don't think DFhack makes it so that the Humans send a normal diplomat instead of their Demonic Overlord.

Again... Sorry for the necro. >_<

DFHack does, I'm pretty sure.

Yes.

I don't think DFhack makes it so that the Humans send a normal diplomat instead of their Demonic Overlord.
That is also correct.

Ah, good... So I use this, and no more Demon Kings / Vampire Law-Givers visiting my fortress?

Epic.

Perhaps I should rephrase my answer a bit:
I don't think DFhack makes it so that the Humans send a normal diplomat instead of their Demonic Overlord.
That is also correct - the fixdiplomat DFHack command does not do that.

You can still get a demon/vampire law-giver visiting your fortress, but unless a particular long-standing bug was fixed, all subsequent visits will be from a Human law-giver.

Ah... Wait. I'm kinda confused now, so I'm going to rephrase my question. >_<;

If I use your Diplomat code, will I get a diplomat instead of a Law-Giver visiting my fortress?

If you're talking about editing the raws and generating a new world, then yes, that will work.

If you're talking about using the "fixdiplomats" command, then no - that only adds Elven diplomats to already-generated worlds.

Would the Fixdiplomats command be compatable with your code if I used it to give elves diplomats?

...what?

Like I already said, the "fixdiplomats" DFHack command only adds diplomats to Elven civilizations, and it's only necessary if you didn't modify your raws to add them prior to worldgen.
