The length of next turn is undetermined(according to your action) for now...but something can be expected. I intend to make both party enter planetary adventure at the same turn for simplicity, and to avoid too much timing difference between them.

I need something else to think right now, other than my friends death, I will organize a laserquest match amongst Security Staff and any Ensign or Liteunant who wants to join.

Keep an eye on the Tyrillian ship, try to raise the morale of the crew (assuming they know we're being tailed). "Our missions are peaceful...not for conquest. When we do battle, it is only because we have no choice, and if those SOB's don't leave us alone, we will have no choice but to crush them."

Nirur will attempt personally meet each of his engineers on off-duty hours, trying to diffuse their stress. He will also examine the micro-fractures caused by the warp travel, and see about reinforcing them or applying nanite paste/duct tape.
After meeting with Para, he will assign a team of whatever engineers are the most skilled at sensor technology to look into overclocking solutions.

I guess I'll do some research on medicine, just in case. Inform my department of whats going on and keep up morale. Join in the laserquest session with Bastista even if for nothing else besides relieving boredom and having some fun. Do my usual departmental duties.

Not sure what else. Being a science officer isn't exactly the most exciting for the RP, but I AM having fun with this RP.

  Ensign Para was deeply troubled.
  He looked helplessly as Wispy, carrying the Princess of Cril, his lover, left the sensor range of Swiftwing and disappeared on his screen. "How could I do that...?"He murmured.
  [1-2(Romantically Involved: Cila)]Then he started to see Tyrilian ships on his screen, above him, below him, dead ahead, directly behind, to port, to starboard, they are everywhere. He screamed in desperation and terror, jumped up from his seat, and fallen unconscious before he touched the deck again.
  "NO!!! NOOO!!!! NOOOOOO!!!!!!"He screamed and kicked around in his unconsciousness, as Faden's crew brought him to Medibay for emergency treatment.

  ......He was running.
  Chased by Tyrilian shocktroopers, he ran across the wide plain of Ellon III. A shooting star flashed across the blue sky, he watched and forgot what's behind him.
  The shooting star started to disintegrate, and Para could make out the elongated HL engine of Swiftwing separating from main hull. He screamed. Then a bolt of energy relentlessly digged itself into Para's chest.
 
  ......The shooting star has fallen to the ground. and Para started to run toward it.
  Under the grey and overcasted sky of Sigma 756, the shooting star burned, as Para watched.
  Then it exploded, sending metal fragments and bits of charred body everywhere. He screamed, as a sharp piece of Wispy found its way into Para's forehead.

  ......He could see something before him.
  Vaguely human shaped, he watched as the image come into focus, it was Cila.
  He reached out, but the moment before Para could grab her, the image of Cila disintergrated into nothingness. He screamed, and suddently sat up...

  Batista watched in a darkened mood, as Faden's staff tried to resuscitate Para, who was sweating, screaming, and throwing himself around in the biobed. He have already lost one of his best friend just now...he couldn't suffer to lost one of his best officer now.
  Then, all of a sudden, Para jolted up from his biobed, eyes wide open, in genuine terror, and fallen silent after a final shriek.
  "Ensign...What happened?"Batista asked gently.

  Para was released in the morning. Although still troubled, Para felt it was time for him to return to duty...
  After a whole day's sensor monitoring, He decided it would be good, if his sensor can have a better range. So he headed for Nirur for some help.

Now it's up to the crew's final decisions before the actual modifications are made.

Sensor modification: By bypassing some safeguards and strengthening the sensor power grid, the ship's sensor array can be made to send a high-powered hyperspace ping. Estimations:

  Much longer detection range and much higher sensitivity for a frame.(+(1d3+2) to Sensor Use roll, +2 to following Scanner Analyzing roll, for once.)

  Small chance to damage or burnout the sensor array.(Another 2d10 is rolled, Damage on 4-5, Burnout on 2-3)
  Lights up the ship, and other things nearby, like a Christmas tree on every ship's sensor readout across several tens of lightyears.(Alerts others of the ship's, as well as others illuminated by the ping's, presence.)

  Besides taking part in designing the modification to the ship's sensors, Sxtan also started to do an research on Chronic Choriocytosis along with some of his colleague.[4-1(Dep.Cmd)]And determined the following information.

As an inborn genetic defect, the Chronic Choriocytosis is caused by a lack of enzyme, the Holulin, necessary in Crilite's physiology.

  He has also officially informed his crew about their current situation, and tried to keep the morale up.[7-1(Dep.Cmd)]And was moderately Successful.
  As past time, he also joined Batista's Laserquest match. [3]And got painted all over very soon every time, as he have no ranged skill.

  Other than planning out the sensor modification, Nirur have met with his engineers more often, trying to defuse their stress caused by the mission.[4-1(Counseling)]But wasn't very successful.
  He also had a look into the microfractures caused by speeding a monthes ago.[5+1(Structral Engineering)]And determined them to be field unrepairable, at least not without dropping out of hyperspace and full-stopping the ship, which is not possible with a Tyrilian ship following.
  He decided to report the malfunction and the planned modification to his captain. And that's when Admiral Young's call from SS23 come.

  Batista was deeply troubled, both by King Lorin's death and Para's seizure. His mood was not good.
  Nonetheless he decided to check Security, Medical and Navigation department's function, as their heads are out on away mission.
  It turned out the guards that was hand-trained by Flintus is leading the Security department quite well, the ship's navigators and helm officer's on duty as normal. Then, after all, he was satisfied by the performance of Faden's crew at treating Para's seizure.
  He also decided to have a Laserquest match, to change his mood. [7]And had quite a good time in the game, with Sxtan and the ship's security officers and guards.
  Everything seemed pretty normal, until the call from SS23.

It's Tyrilians!"Admiral Young bellowed with uncharacteristic fury in his night robe, obviously roused from his sleep by the information that the Tyrilians have already known Swiftwing's decoy plan."Those bloody Tyrilians know before I did. If not for their leaky intelligence network, I wouldn't have known this, and they still would know. Would you care to offer an explaination to why you have disobeyed orders?"
  Batista sat in his seat in his ready room, before the comm screen, with Nirur standing behind him. "I'm sorry, Admiral."Batista began, not quite sure about what to say."We didn't quite expected this situation when we arrived at Olan, Admiral, you are aware that the Crown is not with the king when..."
  "I know. That bloody Tyrilian report was quite clear."
  "When we ascertained that we're not going back to Cril without the Crown, we also realized the King is just not healthy enough to take the extra trip. And none of this is included in our original briefing offered by Confederated Intelligence."
  Batista shot a quick glance at his Chief Engineer, who understands Captain's strategy---Shifting part of the blame for the altered mission onto Confederated Intelligence.
  "All right, Captain. I accept that the mission required modification, and the time involved in consulting with us could have blown the whole affair. You are in command-and resposibility of the mission, and you sit in that Captain's Chair because Navy Force trusts your judgement---But I may have to question that now."
  Batista swallowed, but continued to look at the comm head-on.
  "There are two major problem to contend with now, Batista. First and foremost, it appears one of the Crilites aboard your ship is a Tyrilian agent, and..."
  "Begging your pardon, sir, but our shuttle crew out there is going to be on the wrong end of a shooting gallery the moment they find the crown..."
  "I'm aware of that."
  "That's our priority sir. Swiftwing should get to the shuttle as quickly as possible in case they need assistance."
  "Negative."Young said sharply."If you've been here when we get the word, you'd know that rooting out the turncoat in the King's entourage is top priority."
  "But--"
  "No but, Captain. Their safety is of deep concern. However, Confederation of Star will not be made fools of. Those bloody Tyrilians did just had a spy under our noses all the time, you pull a plan out of nowhere that even Navy Command knows nothing about--and Tyrilians have known where you're going before you even got under way. I have to answer to my superiors too, and they won't stand for it. They threw it to me, and now, Captain, I'm throwing it to you. Find that spy, This is an order."
  "Sir, we already have all four suspects in custody, they're not going anywhere or going to communicate with anybody outside the ship. We can investigate later when we've ensured the safety of the shuttle team."
  "The Chief of Staff wants the spy secured first."
  "Did the Chief of Staff have any good idea on how to do that?" Said Batista, his bad mood becoming anger and he have to suppress the urge to illminate that sentence with various colorful adjectives and verbs.
  "YOU got into this, Batista. And now it's up to YOU to think a way out. That's not a direct quote, the language here was a bit more descriptive."
  Insubordination was not going to help my cause at the moment, Batista thought bitterly."Admiral, I must register a strong protest, We---"
  "That's your right, Captain. And these are your orders: Formulate a plan to catch that spy, and hold your present position until you got one. Then submit it to us for our approval. Is that clear?"
  "Yes sir."Batista responded tightly.
  "One other thing...How is the King through all this?"
  Batista and Nirur traded quick glances."The King? He's fine, sir."
  "Good. I hate to have any more complications after all this. Very well. I shall be expecting a plan from you in exactly two hours. Navy Command out."
  Young's image faded out. And Batista slumped to his desk.
  Nirur looked at his Captain."Captain...ye lied to a Navy Command admiral."
  "Let's hope you and I are the only ones ever know about it. Damn those bureaucrats, we can't risk more leaks."Batista shook his head."Whatever happened out there, it was before we left Olan, and was out of our control. Maybe the King mentioned the plan to a servant who mentioned it to someone else. Or maybe someone overheard, or maybe Cila said something she shouldn't have. None of that matters now. What does matter is that Flintus, Faden, Nimitz and Cila are going to be in trouble, and that Tyrilian ship playing tag with us all this time is a trick that we fell for. Now, instead heading to Sigma to see nothing happened to my shuttle crew...I have to think a way to wipe egg off the Confederation's face. Dammit.   Three days of riding in shuttle is quite boring, and there's no other passtime besides chatting for everyone, with the extra of preening for Faden. And Flintus wondered why didn't he borrow Para's Starship Combat Simulator before coming aboard. The food from the mini general-purpose synthesizer didn't make the situation any better, while the team played around with Nimitz's Insta-map.
  They managed to become more familiarized with each other though.(Very Familarized added between all members without higher tier of relationships)(Update on Cila's NPC sheet)
  Faden also started to feel that Cila is relying on her. (Cila: Somehow reliant: Faden: Varied bonus/penalty with/without the presence of said person.)

  Humanoid race hailing from Planet Cril, resembles human, slightly weaker constitution, and have white hair. Confederation Associate.
  Supplies the ore Crilium which is used as energy source in the entire sector. Ravaged by civil war for more than 20 years tracing back before the Third War, the situation is about to take a turn.
  Planet Cril's political and religious leader, King of Covenant of Cril, Lorin has been exiled to Planet Olan for 21 years.

  A vital energy source of many planets in local space near Cril, much safer than Uranium and other similiar isotopes and require much less technology than fusion to produce power.
  Although Crilium did occur natually on every planets and asteroids in this section of space, only Cril, after which the ore is named after, have a concentration high enough to be mined with acceptable cost-effectiveness. And there's nigh-infinite amount of Crilite in the crust of Cril, which is enough to provide this and nearby sectors with energy for thousands of years to come at current rate.

  Humanoid race with an appearance that resembles human, but more bony and muscular, especially on the face. Regional Power, Quite aggressive. One of the powers that is now essentially surronded by CS as the latter expands, As CS spent most of its resource on Zerkalian Front it's more than willing to take some bite off the CS from the back, but does not dare an open war since they are too weak when compared with CS.
  Tyrilians ritually execute their prisoner after capture, in a particularly gory and painful way.

  As it's closer to Earth, the first contact between CS and Tyrilian Empire is pretty early, in the 2250s, which is immediately followed by a series of skirmishes between the two powers.
  Now it's surronded by Confederation as the latter expands, laying between the core and frontier worlds.
  It's technology level is 2370s-equivalent when compared to the Confederation, which is slightly inferior.
  The relation between it and CS has never been good. And because of Confederation's non-invasive nature, and the war between Confederation and Zerkalians, they have been trying to cut a piece out of CS since the Second War.
  Located in the opposite side of the Zerkalian Front, This regional power have been proven to be a thorn on the back for the Confederation.

  The military ships of Tyrilian Empire is typically light-to-medium destroyer sized, using exclusively lasers as their weaponery as observed, though a heavy-cruiser sized ship has been observed not long ago.
  Their technology is around 2370s-equivalent for Confederation, which is a bit outdated for newer Confederation ships, but still somewhat more advanced than his own Swan-class light cruiser.
  Tyrilian ships usually patrols around in single ship, or form a small taskforce of up to 5 ships.
  A typical Tyrilian ship looks like a triangle, with HL engine attached to port and starboard aft, and bridge on the dorsal fore of the ship.
  The common weakness among these ships are their low HL speed. The maximum speed ever observed is Factor 6.5, while they typically cruise at factor 5.
  Their laser armament are roughly class 4-8 in output when catagueized, though more powerful weapons is possible.
  Typical tactics Tyrilians use usually involves a lot of strafing as their laser are mostly forward-mounted. Ramming is also a tactic favored by Tyrilian commanders if their ship is damaged enough, or they are overpowered enough.

  Located near the Confederation-Tyrilian border, this sector is the home of StarStation 23 and Planet Cril, origin of Crilite civilization. Also have 8 habitable planets, 3 minor planetary colonies and 2 minor civilization, Olani and Elloni.
  This sector has been under constant threat from Tyrilian Empire since the first contact with them, but is still weakly-defended when compared to those alongside Confederation-Zerkalian border because of the constant threat of Zerkalians and its spatial position.
  At factor 6, Olan is 3 days away from SS23, Sigma 756 is 3 weeks away from Olan, Cril is 2 week 5 day away from Olan, 1 week away from Sigma 756, Ellon III is 2 week 3 day away from Olan, 9 day away from Sigma 756, 11 day away from Cril.

  Humanoid race native to Planet Olan, much shorter when compared to human, and is characterized by their darker skin and slightly diffenent facial feature. Confederation Associate.
  Planet Olan is very hot for a Class-M Terrestrial planet, bordering on Class-L Desert because of its relatively closeness to its sun, its atmosphere is also thinner than Earth. As the result Olani population is pretty sparse, barely reaching 5 million as of 2415.
  This planet does not have any natural resources treasured by any space-faring civilization, nor of any strategic importance. Thus of little intrest to any space-faring civilization, such a planet makes for excellent dwelling for exiled royalties like those of Planet Cril.
  The King of Covenant of Cril and his family has been exiled here with Confederation assistance. and has been here for 21 years.

  Humanoid race native to Planet Ellon III, shorter than human, and the skin color ranges from pink to deep green, very welcoming to strangers from all places. Confederation Associate.
  Ellon III is pretty underdeveloped by Confederation standard, the cosy lifestyle of Elloni people in one of the reason behind that.
  The culture of Elloni people calls for friendliness to all people, regardless of origin. Total strangers are hailed as neighbours, the hospitality of the Elloni people is famous throughout the Confederation.
  As a result, Immigration policy of the planet is pretty lax, and there's a stable Crilite population on the planet because of the frequent ore trade between the two planets.

  King of Covenant of Cril, Lorin has been exiled onto Planet Olan since 21 years ago, with his still-young daughter(Princess Cila, aged 4 at that time), his wife(Queen Miri), and his four servant(Personal manservant Eari and his wife, royal cook Mossay. Also Stable Master, Aldel and Chief of the households, Nil)
  Queen Miri died a few years later by disease, while others managed to live through the hardness of all these years.
  The King is pretty old now, the hardship on the living didn't make the situation any better.
  King Lorin have passed away aboard CNS-15322 Swiftwing, at 2421.11.18 21:28 Earth Standard Time.

  A stone house of typical Olani construction located on the south hemisphere of the planet in a rural region, the King, his family and entourage has been living there for the entire duration of their exile.
  Enemy presense on this planet is very low, at most a Tyrilian agent with a few paid Olani informers according to report, it used to be much more though, their number reduced as the time passes.
  Also the Swiftwing's presence here should have been a surprise for Tyrilian Empire, for the secrecy nature of the mission.
  An encrypted message was sent to Tyrilian Empire after the away team reached Olan. The presence of Swiftwing is no secret now.
  Another message was sent near the end of Turn 10.

  As the political and religious symbol of planet Cril, this very important item is not with the King at this time. The King have hidden it away on a remote planet at the beginning of his exile at Planet Sigma 756. Tyrilians will most likely want to steal this item.
  The Power of Times granted by the Crown is an ESP-like phenomenon activated by a certain type of brainwave that was present in the brain of certain members of royal family of Cril, and the crystal on the Crown is sensitive to such waves, the person possessing just the right brain wave would clear it. This effect has been duplicated in computer simulations. After all, the most likely explanation for the story was an intervention by a much more advanced alien race, even when compared to Confederation.

  Princess Cila shall rule as Queen of Covenant of Cril when she returns to Cril, but not without first retriving the Crown of the Covenant from Planet Sigma 756. Go to Sigma 756 to meet Shal'Qah, a local avian tribe leader in Shal'a mountain range, for help, he knows the location of the crown. King Lorin shall leave too, to confuse Tyrilians.

  Crilite protocols are largely similiar to humans as they are very similiar in both their biological and social evolution path. One thing of note is that Crilites consider the focus of attention very important.

  A bit similiar to diabetes to Humans before it's treated, but more deadly. Needs a periodic injection of holulin in order to survive. And if left untreated, the result will be similiar to carbon monoxide poisoning, in which the oxygen-carrying capability of blood cell will be gradually lost, which will result in suffocation and death. This disease will worsen if under stress, careful medical treatment is absolutely necessary.
  As an inborn genetic defect, the Chronic Choriocytosis is caused by a lack of enzyme, the Holulin, necessary in Crilite's physiology.

  The Covenant marked the start of the current Crilite Dynasty, which was born hundreds of years ago. Also of utmost religious importance to Crilites.

  The Wispy haven't changed course since launch, and should arrive at Sigma 756 in 4 days. No followers has been detected.
  There's a spy in King's entourage, who have sold part of King's plan to Tyrilians, and now Tyrilians know that the ship is going to retrieve the crown, but doesn't know where the crown is according to report from Confederated Intelligence.
  Tyrilians wants to steal the crown for their own glory, and to control Cril.
  All four servants are aboard the Swiftwing and are not going anywhere unless you let it.
  Tyrilians doesn't know anything happened aboard Swiftwing since its departure, including King Lorin's death, which they would be glad to know.
  Tyrilians COULD have deducted the usage of shuttle from Swiftwing's course if they know what Swiftwing was up to.
  King Lorin asked for a traditional Crilite burial before his death from Batista, but doesn't have time before passing away to fill out the details. His Royalty's servant most assuredly knows about this.

Background: Nirur is a fairly recent graduate from fleet school. When he was a child, his role model was Frederick, a teenager who lived next door. Ever since Frederick became a fleet officer, Nirur had dreamed of his own command.
In fleet school, he scored excellent marks on his engineering tests, but barely passed his personal combat training. After graduating, he was dismayed that his girth prevented him from passing the physical tests. He spent the next several months working at a fleet dock, where he gained experience building and repairing ships, rapidly being promoted to a team leader due to his skills, and eventually becoming the leader of an entire shift. He continued exercising, and passed the fleet's physical aptitude tests on his second try.

Background: Having grown up in a lower-middle class family star ship command was not a likely option for Flint when he was growing up but like many other children he was raised on stories of the exploits of the heroes of Confederation Navy and he quickly set his sights. Flint doesn't often talk about how he managed to get into the academy or the inquiry that was ordered relating to it, but regardless there was not enough evidence to press charges, unfortunately Flint still carries this blemish on his report. Life in the academy was easy enough Flint had trained his body to peak athleticism and was a naturally talented shooter. The academic side provided more of a challenge but Flint worked hard and passed with an impressive record showing excellent talent in his martial skills and was placed on security.
Flint has served on one ship and his relatively lower class upbringing saw him get along very well with the other crew members. Of course the questionable way he was able to get into the academy in the first place saw tensions between him and his officers however nothing too drastic ever came to pass. And excellent repour with crew members as well as a heroic performance in one of only two instances of space combat saw Flint promoted and he was sent back to Earth ready for his new posting.

The Swiftwing is one of the first(and sadly, also one of the last) ship of Swan-class Light cruiser.
Equipped with top-of-the-line technology, facility and equipment at it's prime, Swan-class formed a large part of the effective defence force throughout the last century, and performed well in both the Second and Third War, and as a result, many ship of this class has been lost in battle.
Originally designed with a service lifespan of 80 years, Swan-class performed beyond all expections, and is certfied of an additional lifespan of 20 years(Actually mainly because of the Third War).
Now this class of ship is meeting its end even with its extended lifespan, and began to show all sort of problem with aging.

This ship is relatively small for a light cruiser, only slightly larger most heavy destroyer nowadays, but still well-armored when compared to destroyers even with it's age.
It's called Swan-class for a reason, for its long, wide and downswept HL engine pylon connecting elongated main hull and long HL engine.
It's also capable of minimal atmospheric operation, but not landing except in absolute emergency because of the downswept and fixed HL engine pylon, and lack of landing strut. An emergency landing can be a premature end of the ship's service life.

The newest weaponery aboard the ship are the twelve General Weaponery GWHEP5-MK2P HEPPC Cannon mounted on port and starboard of the ship, replaced its predecessor in the 2400 refit, you checked your Combat Starship Simulator, and seems like the information in the simulator is pretty accurate, you chilled in your spine.
The oldest is the two Confederated Technology HEP8-MK3A-3 Triple mount HEPPC Array, which is already mounted since the ship's entrance into the service in 2326.
You also notes that the power requirement that listed on the operation manual is the power requirement to fire one of the multiple cannon mounted on the same point.
Also noted is that the 2 main cannon mount's power conduit is directly connected to the reactor core itself, possibly field-modified some years before, that allows more power on the main cannon mount as long as reactor's up, but will cause complications if the core is down, this also incresed the risk of damage in case of an overload feedback from the cannon.
The intergrity of the Weaponery Powergrid is pretty good despite its age, at least when compared to other systems of the ship.

Cephid 17 is a binary system, 1205.2 lightyears away from Earth which is at the border between Core and Frontier systems of the Confederation of star.
Swiftwing should be able to reach the destination within a half year if everything went all right on a cruise speed factor of 6.0 and stay on the +1.0 Hyperspace highway.
Nothing much is interesting in the way though, as this is a pretty busy spacelane and everything around has been througthoutly studied.
