I've never really liked these tests because there's so many questions that I would have to answer "yea, but...".  I identify as a "right" libertarian, but that doesn't mean I advocate abolishing X or Y tax or social program until we can do so without losing social stability.  And I'm definitely alienated by the Atlas Shrugged type of objectivist that seem to think everyone must earn their share no matter what and that it's not important to feel charitable to your neighbor and community.  I oppose the morality of coercive government on the grounds men should have a right to their choices, but I believe those same men should choose to be charitable and provide for the weak and disadvantaged by their own volition.  Too many questions seem to be either objectivist or socialist in nature, never a "I believe men should do this, government should do this".  I'll end up having the same "I believe government should do this" as an objectivist, but a very different "I believe men should do this".

Wait they want to lower the voting age? Whilst were at it lets just select party seats by rolling dice, whoever rolls highest on a D20 gets to be prime minister!
If you can get married, leave home, get a job and buy a house you are probably capable of choosing a political party.

Ok, so any 16 year old who has proven themself capable of doing those things can vote, I'll grant you that. But to be honest most 16 year olds just aren't mature enough to vote seriously. Then again I'm probably biased by way of thinking democracy is a ridiculous idea.
Well, there's no competance condition to vote
And therein lies my problem with democracy. What right do I have to suggest that my petty uninformed self serving opinion should decide how the country is run? Furthermore even if I did take the many hundreds of hours to become an expert on British politics and to know how they fit into world politics my opinion would be of equal value to the people who think it's clever to circle "con" on the vote conservative billboards and add such jewels of wisdom as "id rather die" and "class war."

Not that the billboards are much better, I'm sure most people here were probably introduced to democracy on a first had basis at school. At the time I for one saw that it was little more than a glorified popularity contest and hoped that things would change when I left school and could participate in real politics. Unfortunately it turned out that there is almost no difference. You don't get votes through displaying billboards with actual policies on them, you get them by smearing your enemy with ridiculous and unrelated accusations or implications and making similar ridiculous claims.

Loaded.

Quote
"from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" is a fundamentally good idea.
Fundamentally /= Theoretically

Quote
It is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who simply manipulate money and contribute nothing to their society.
I'd say loaded, but I've taken this same quiz several times since 2004ish.  This one is more loaded in modern hindsight.

Quote
Taxpayers should not be expected to prop up any theatres or museums that cannot survive on a commercial basis.
All culture is not the same.  Do I have to prop up both?

Quote
A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system.
You'd be surprised just how rampantly delayed and inefficient most one-party governments are.

Anyway, total results-

Economic Left/Right: -1.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.97

Intriguing.
Questions of these kinds are supposed to be loaded, to get an amotional reaction from you. These tests want to get at your emotions, not engage you in intellectual debate. The Theory is this:
If you go by your guts, you dont have a chance to selfcensor. If you ask: Are you a Racist? Lots of people will disagree, since most people have (at least on an intellectual level) got the idea that racism is bad, but if you ask if there is too much immigration, more people will agree, since they dont self-censor so much.
Same here: The questions want to go at your emotions, so you dont selfcensor.

I was bored so I took it.

Economic Left/Right: -4.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.15

Notice how the last digits add up to seven.

It should be noted though this is in theory. In reality it's 0.0 0.0. I just don't care.

i didn't take it, i know I'm authoritarian left, also i don't like think the grid is an accurate representation the political spectre.
On a related note, today in Portugal is a national holiday, we celebrate the carnation revolution, a leftist coup d'etat in 1974 that ended up as a nonviolent revolution. It put an end to a fascist-like totalitarianism and installed a center-leftist democracy.

I suppose 0.0 0.0 is still a political view... just a rather odd one.  And there must be some issues that affect you, surely?

Yeah it's dumb.  But it's SOOOO COOOL.

Also, I don't care about these dumb polls.  I do care about politics, but don't care about the bumbling, idiot politicians on the floor today.
