Where Are You On The Political Compass?

Take the test for where your beliefs are on the political spectrum here. Don't take it too seriously, the whole thing isn't measured, and small choices make big changes.

I'm -5.3, 2.4 ( Left, Mildly Authoritarian ), which is quite strange considering the fact I consider myself quite liberal. But, oh well.

Where American political parties generally are.
Where UK political parties generally are.

Feel free to just vote in the poll, but I'd like to see how deep you guys are into each part of the spectrum.

( I find it quite funny that Labour are more authoritarian than UKIP, which is one of our racism parties. )

Left/right -1.62
Lib/Auth -2.15.

Not really far enough from the centre to justify being anything but Centre.

.88 Right-wing
2.87 Libertarian

Center-libertarian, but not full on Atlas-shrugging, pot-smoking, tea partying(Although the Tea Party has gotten a little too Neocon for its own good lately, so that's not exactly an accurate descriptor anymore), super-Libertarian.

Just as I suspected.

Economic Left/Right: -3.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.13

Makes sense.
The left/right is sort of borderline centre/left, so I went with centre.
Makes more sense with my beliefs.

Loaded.

Fundamentally /= Theoretically

It is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who simply manipulate money and contribute nothing to their society.
I'd say loaded, but I've taken this same quiz several times since 2004ish.  This one is more loaded in modern hindsight.

All culture is not the same.  Do I have to prop up both?

A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system.
You'd be surprised just how rampantly delayed and inefficient most one-party governments are.

Anyway, total results-

Economic Left/Right: -1.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.97

Intriguing.

[Complaints About Questions]

I think one of the strengths of the test is that the questions don't have to be good or bad, merely that they give the correct amount of "points" to demonstrate the basics of a person's political belief. Any of those questions could be answered with any of it, and still be a viable political opinion.

Example: The pushing money thing is what retailers as a whole do. They merely move around stock and gain money from it. Sure, there's a lot of organisation, but there is in everything else too.

I didn't take it this time, but on the last few times I've always gotten extreme left with only a slight lean towards libertarian.

Asking someone what their label is is fairly stupid in my opinion.  It's just a convenient way to boil down complex issues into buzzwords and talking points so we don't have to really think about them.

The death penalty should be an option for the most serious crimes.
This question bamboozled me. Is it for or against the death penalty?

Anyway it's pretty biased tword libertarians and the left. Also I dont understand some of the questions... :(

It still told me I was left/libertarian.

That'd be for the death penalty, on serious crimes. ( Rape, murder etc I'd guess. )

yeah, this.

Or rather, I agree with these kind of "axis tests" being pointless, as an X-Y layout can hardly express what someone's political views are. This is to say, two simmilar results can cover wildly different things.

Thus, I think it's more important (and meaningful) to define one's stance in particular issues, than to say that you are left/right/etc..., or even defining oneself as a marxist/democrat/republican/libertarian/authoritarian/whatever...

See I thought it could be against it becuase I thought they were talking about death penalty for less serious crimes in comparison or something.

Also as for the lables thing:

I think we shouldn't use lables. Becuase lables make people stupid and easy to agree without seeing through other peoples eyes.
