I'm obsessed with games like this. However there must be fighting, exitment, space stations, fuel ACTION. In other words I'm not a fan of eye candy.

Yay! it works and i learned the controls, i just explored a Sol-Like system, and have found a earthlike planet! Rolling grassy hills, unusual trees.. Pretty hot though, about 100Farenheit.

Sofia, the little tetrahedral shapes on the ground are just supposed to be rocks, I think.  You should be sure to check out the home planet, there's even some cool ruins to explore.  The forums are worth checking out too, they're pretty quiet, but there's a lot of good information about the game and world in there.

It's been a long time since I've played this game.  It always makes me lonely.  Then I go and play it, and my stardrifter has run out of fuel during my long absence, the lights are down, and I feel like I've ignored some responsibility to the ship, like it's a lonely child.  I love that game.

Eh, I play it once in a while when I'm really bored, I sorta gave up on hoping noctis V will ever come out.

I love Noctis with a desperate passion.  It's wonderful.  I'm just waiting for a new one...

I've been waiting for a long....long.......long time.

It's the kind of game that makes you wish you could do more with the engine.  But what gameplay could you add to it?  Games like Starflight (much better space exploration than UQM) let you roam around the surface of planets, collecting lifeforms and minerals and trading with the natives, but it seems like that would be an injustice to pure exploration.

In the end, I think all I want is a multiplayer version, so I can sit on a distant ridge with someone special and watch the starlight filter through the rings.

You right click twice to select a system to travel to.

You might wanna poke through the manual a bit more, the controls arent exactly common sense.

You've got plenty of fuel, except when you don't.

Early on, don't worry about fuel.  But once you've got the hang of navigating, start knowing where to get more fuel.  I tended to run out after hitting about 20 systems I think?

I usually(when I used to play) immediately went to the nearest "fuel star" and left it on while I did something else until I had a full tank whenever I started a new game.
