Oh, and do remember that you continue to refuel even when you're not actually playing--unless my memory is horribly mistaken.  Yes, you can close the program around a fuel star while siphoning, and when you start it back up...well, real time has passed in the game, too.

...I used to have a Felysian clock running on my desktop all the time...

I'm particularly fond of how time works. It makes it feel much more alive. Though you can end up with a ridiculous sum of fuel with trivial amounts of work. That may be the point, however.

Sadly, the labels are no longer updated.  :(

That's a very very sad thing.

I wonder if we can remove all the current lables and start fresh. Like a Bay12 version of the starmap.

Hmmm.  Thing is, my understanding of the starmap is that it's not user-fussible.  The procedure was, you play the game, save your labels, send them in by email, and then every few weeks, a new downloadable collection comes out.  The ability to do all that stuff may not be in the hands of users.

But then, maybe something's changed since then.  Or there's a third party...thing.

Hey, I'm not convinced we would need to start totally fresh.  Just pick new coordinates to start from.  I remember hearing about one guy that took WEEKS to fly all the way to the edge of the galaxy...and another couple guys who went to the galactic core.  If we're in a random spot on the whole other side of the galaxy, we will never, ever see a star that's been named before.

I'm obsessed with games like this. However there must be fighting, exitment, space stations, fuel ACTION. In other words I'm not a fan of eye candy.

Im sorry. NOCTIS has none of these. Its interesting at best, a novelty perhaps.

And when I say it's overrated, I mean every thread about this game I have ever read sings it's praises.

What games do I like? I like many games, most any genre. Not a huge fan of FPS, but sometimes it can be fun, I guess I dont have a computer that can handle the fancy new stuff. I mostly like strategy games, like roguelikes, like some adventure games. I gues I like most types of games, I like trying new things, novel ideas. I frequently cruise TIGsource and TempleofRoguelike and of course this forum for new experiences.

I just cant get into NOCTIS, I guess I might try again.

Noctis is not a game that you come to like over time.  Either you're attracted to the inherant romanticism of exploring, or you're not.  And even if you ARE, you have to like the style or you won't appreciate it.  It's not a game in the classical sense really...not at all.

Gotta agree with Sowelu, as usual. The reason all of the topic creators sing its praises is due to the fact that all of the topic creators are captured by that same, somewhat unexplainable vibe the game gives off.

I wouldn't say it's overrated. I'd say it's very specific in who it's for, perhaps?

Well, your reply completely mystifies me. You're the same sort of person I am in terms of playing games, and yet I adore Noctis and you don't. Truly, if there was a picture under the term "Love it or Hate it", the picture would be of Noctis.

Hammer and Sickle would fit there too, I don't personally know anyone else who doesn't hate it but I love it.

Actually, I'm pretty sure there's a new update for the labels coming this weekend.

Does that play like Silent Storm? I liked Silent Storm, from what I got to try. (My laptop was overheating when I played it.)

A new label update? Wuh? Really?

Little Known Fact:  I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for Noctis.

Nor would I.  I think there's a pretty big overlap between the ABB community and Bay12.

I just wish Alex was as good about staying in touch with the players as Tarn is.

I think its because DF receives a hefty amount of donations, meaning Tarn can actualy spend alot of time developing DF, and I greatly approve of this. Noctis is much more obscure on the webs then DF also, apart from the game giving you only one thing to do, which his exploring.
