i do it to signify deadpan, which either indicates a lack of seriousness (note: this does not mean sarcasm, necessarily, just that i am not emotionally engaged with the subject) or, most often when i do it in the sad thread, awareness that what i am saying is true but saying it does not solve any actual problems

the latter might be a peculiarity of mine that makes no goddamn sense but there it is, and if i've ever upset somebody by accidentally leading them to believe i intended the former instead of the latter, then I sincerely apologize, switching to the use of capitals midsentence to indicate that I do take that kinda seriously. It hasn't been my intention to make people feel undervalued or anything like that.

anyway, there is a point to doing it for me at least, even if i'm a jackass for assuming readers will automatically get it

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Yeah, deadpan. That's generally why I do it, that and mocking, sarcasm, things of that ilk.

Lowercase and such doesn't really bother me as long as it's just a bit. A complete lack of formatting in longer posts is just obnoxious.

Yeah, deadpan. That's generally why I do it, that and mocking, sarcasm, things of that ilk.
I leave off a bit of punctuation and such when I'm shitposting, yeah. Seems about standard, really.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

hello i am a repeat offender of lacking proper capitalization and punctuation/annoyingly formatted messages and look how much i don't care

;o

Really though, it's only when i'm goofing around, and is partly to ensure that people KNOW that i'm goofing around. I do at least TRY to write my serious sentences decently, though whether i succeed or not is up for debate. I know, for example, that i constantly (and more or less intentionally) fail to capitalize my I's despite knowing that i should, and that my comma placement isn't perfect. :v

They're pretty much the same in levels of annoyance. Actually, I think a complete lack of capitalisation is still worse.
Also, my plan to draw you all out of hiding in one place worked like a charm. Ha!

Seriously? People who capitalise every word are worse than cancer.

It's like my brain thinks you're starting a new sentence every word, whereas lack of capitalization I just read as a monotone.

At. Least. This. Is. Pretty. Uncommon. Right?
