Today I saw a train catch a guy.
Well that doesn't happen every day. I hope?
If you refer to train suicides in general, then statistics and railroad analysis says this has very likely happened every single day in the last 30 years. If you refer to me seeing this sort of stuff, then no, I don't see this kind of stuff every day. It would be bloody horrible otherwise.

Welp, at least you had a memorable day.  :)
Is it the death that's horrifying or the the witnessing of it, would you say?
(assuming something about it was horrifying)
Are we talking 'saw him drop off the platform, infront of the train, & looked away' or 'he got hit by the train, went flying/got gibbed'?

Eh, well, shit like that happens. It's good to talk about it, and one can either talk about it lightly or be morose bastards- guess which one helps you get over it faster? Guess which one is actually conducive to talking?
The faster one is able to realize witnessing something like that only effects you as much as you let it, that something like that has no power in and of itself, the sooner you'll gain control of it.

My response was deliberately smiley, (literally look-at-the-bright-side), as a way to put this obnoxious elephant in the room, this bullshit 'oh I'm a traumatic experience, let me traumatize you' back in it's fucking cage.

Talking about it does the same thing, removing the mythos, the pale veil from around the memory, and therefore it's power over you. Not to mention the therapeutic effects of just sharing one's experience, instead of keeping it all bottled up.

All of this is, again though, assuming that the guy wasn't dealing with it perfectly fine on his own.

I blame the text medium, the smiley-face would have been a stretched, side-muscle one indicating insincerity instead of actual happiness.

Panic attacks. Have them; hate them.

I feel embarrassed and anxious and stupid about them.

I also don't think I can afford any type of professional help.
