There are so many complete contradictions in D&D books that they'd need to make another book just to FAQ/errata them all. Ask the GM for a ruling. GM's word is law, anyway.

For the past three days my neighbor's kid has been setting off some pretty loud firecrackers. I have no idea why he's doing it, since fireworks are illegal in this state, but it's starting to get annoying. He's apparently got a bunch of them since he lit them for a couple hours yesterday and the day before.

Couldn't he behave like a normal child and take his illegal and mildly dangerous business elsewhere? You know, somewhere where he won't get caught.

Just ask him to stop nicely, and when he inevitably refuses to listen to reason, threaten to call the cops on him instead (and if he's stupid enough to not listen to you then, well...). Knowlage of someone's illegal activites makes a good bargining chip.

I'm not really trying to press the issue and I don't want to call the cops over something this small. I just wish his parents showed enough concern that he didn't start fires and light fireworks in his own front yard.

If this keeps up though, I might just call the cops.

And then I will truly be an adult. :/

The problem with friends is some think you should be a robot or something and just being overreacting sometimes is a horrible thing and you should feel like crap for it.

Asshole. Hypocrite asshole.

Well, I almost got hit by a speeding car today. Not something I want to experience again.

I didn't slip in the shower but instead did so after the shower, and hit my leg and neck on the door and frame. They still hurt.

Unfortunately not. I didn't have a pen or any paper on me, and I was startled (dazed?) enough not to be able to see it.

I don't know if that'll be true, but you should call the cops or talk to him/his parents regardless. Inaction will probably only worsen the problem.

Hell I feel like a lazy bum just reading all that.

Compared to Vector, we're all lazy bums, maybe with the exception of ein.

What?
I'm amazingly lazy.
I just get a lot done because I can multitask.
And I'm a ridiculously fast learner.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Unless the caster level has to be of a certain class (for instance, casting a fireball as a wizard/cleric), I'd say you just pick your highest.

Reading Vector's progress and work ethic made me sad, because it made me realise just how much of a lazy ass I am. I've done and seen so shockingly little, and I'm even a little angry at myself because of it.

I must work harder.
