Today, flags are half-staffed to honor the last US WW1 vet who died last month.

Sort of.  I usually get a heck of a lot more sleep than this, and weekends are generally lighter.

I'm really only worried because I don't know what I'm going to eat on Wednesday.

Have some corned beef and potatoes, in honor of a semi-mythical Irish saint who was actually French.
Thursday, not Wednesday genius ::)

Vector, what are you interested in eating?

Well, since she's a vegetarian, she'll obviously be replacing corned beef with cornbread.

Did not realize Vector was a vegetarian. Consider the suggestion withdrawn then, no intent to offend.
Some of my best friends are vegetarians (yeah, I know how that sounds....)

Telle: Yeah, I'm quite aware of which day it's on. Doesn't stop somebody from eating Irish food a day early.  ::)

Don't worry.  I'm not going to be offended just because someone suggests eating meat  ::)

I don't know what I want to eat, really.  I'll probably end up whipping out some pad thai or something tonight, and then soaking chickpeas so that I can make a nice curry tomorrow.

If you need to insert the phrase "I mean, some of my best friends are X!" when explaining something, you're probably doing it wrong.

Which is why the usage was semi-ironic. I'm an avowed carnivore myself, but I actually do have a good friend who's a staunch vegan for moral reasons, although thankfully not the militant "all meat-eaters are murdering bastards" kind of vegan. I changed my avatar here and a few other places because it slipped that my "French pig happily slicing itself into charcuterie" pic really kinda disturbed her, which I felt kinda bad for never even having considered.
