and a sprinkling of pig.

Someone please tell me I'm not the only one that imagined pig body parts raining down from the sky post explosion.

Ah, memories of the pig cannon.

I half wonder if it's biome based. I live near a large grassland that spawns tons of chickens (annoying to hit them too amongst piles of tall grass), and a sprinkling of pig. No sheep or cows. To find sheep I have to go to the neighboring mountain biome, or one of the neighboring forests.

I'm positive that it's biome based.  I only see cows spawning in a couple clearings around my house, and I almost never see chickens, just equal numbers of pigs and sheep.  Then again, maybe it's seed based?

That's your dwarven instincts. It's inside all of us, waiting to come out. All over everyone.

Is anyone else noticing the cows seem absurdly, insanely common?

Not where I live. Where I live, it's chickens. Chickens chickens chickens, everywhere. I've been surviving off of chicken so far.

Sheep here, with some cows, the (very) rare hen, and 0 pigs. I live in a conifer forest, so it's not crazy.

I imagined it more like this.

You've put a hell of a lot of work into this.

It's a Semaphore. It signals things, and a large tower is easy to see. I assume different combinations of Magma would mean different things.

Probably useless for the most part in single player, but interesting for multi-player.

what's more important for me at least is the fact that I can have a line of towers all linked, simulating an actual semaphore line.

The problem with using computers as signal towers in Minecraft is that the circuitry is so big, sometimes you can't see the tower from the outside edge of the system.

How DO you guys figure that redstone stuff out?  :o
I only know basic stuff such as opening/closing "secret" entrances.

Actually, the thing that entertains me is that if you have the towers, you have to have someone in the distant chunk that has all chunks between loaded.... you may as well use redstone with repeaters to signal the person withing view. ;)

I do like the mux/demuxing...

I never really used redstone for anything, apart from automatic doors or whatever. I finally got a use for it when I realized you can "insulate" redstone circuits by using repeaters facing the objects you want to activate instead of redsonte, so I finally figured out how to effectively build a 3 block wide gate for my clay soldier arena.

Beyond that? Nothing at all. Redstone just gathers dust in my worlds, in all honesty.
