Hehehe.

By the way - while zombies and skellies can't descend, would it be possible to carry a bunch of skeletons downstairs, drop them THEN animate them?
waiwhat? did that change? last time I tried, I just had to stick around a staircase, wait til they all were next to the laddersquare and THEN descend.

MAYBE this was in powder, tho  :D

What is the spell that makes you forget a spell and what book(s) do i find it in?
Selective Amnesia.  You can get it as a Sif gift, but I usually find it in a Book of Wizardry.  Definately worth learning and keeping.

The wiki tells me you can also find it in the "Book of Enchantments" and the "Book of Practical Magic" (which I think was removed recently).

Necromancy nerf.  Zombies and skellies can no longer use stairs.

Being forced to carry some corpses around for the next level sounds fun too, imho.

Yeah, its not as bad as it sounds. Makes it less urgent to learn animate skeleton, which can save a spell slot.

Edit: I know Orcs is a good branch to make money, but are there any others? I got a bookshop with Party Tricks in it, and just snagged an amulet of Clarity.

Edit2: Why does this game hate me. Jewelry shop with two rings of magical power.

Yeah... you need to get abominations now if you're a necromancer and want multilevel minions.  Sucks.

You've already cleared Lair, right? There's always money in Vaults:8, Tomb:3, Slime:6, and Elf:7. I know that's not really helpful for you. Snake, Hive, and Vaults all have at least as much gold lying around as the Dungeon, if not more. Crypt, Blade, and Swamp all have a very small amount of money in them. I don't know how much gold there is in Shoals, but I can say that even if there's a lot, it'll be under the water.

Clear Snake:1-4. Clear Hive. Clear Vaults:1-7. Clear dungeon levels. Clear OUT Crypt, since there MAY be some cash in the Crypt:4 vault. Of course, you'll invariably get an ancient lich who summons Hellions and Fiends (guess how my last character died). Just take the Crypt:4 vault very slowly and bring as much rN as you can.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

I haven't cleared anything let. I'm moving very slowly, though I just fell down a shaft a few levels, and was hoping there was something easy I could do to make money. I'm just about there, and may get there trying to get back up.

Honestly, I've never cleared anything yet, cept in wizard mode. Was hesitant about Orc due to the massive hordes I always encounter there. Was hoping for instant confusion when I stepped down the stairs.

Edit: I just found a room with about half a dozen humans, a sheep, and  a lava pool. Easiest 2500 xp I've ever made.

Edit2: Success. I made the 650 I needed for party tricks, and got Alistair's. Good God this spell is powerful.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Cleared the Vestibule, Slime Pits and the Crypt. I found most of the spells I was looking for, except Controlled Blink (and Death's Door if I decide to enter the ziggurat). I got Extension buffing several spells I don't know.  8) I'll miss being able to do that in 0.7.

Next stop is the Realm of Zot!

Does Recall Orcish Followers bring you followers from different levels? Say one gets lost somewhere and I go down some stairs, can I recall him from there?

And if not, how can I make sure that all of my orcs follow me up and down stairs?

No, it doesn't work if they're not on the same floor as you. You need to recall your followers, then have them next to (or within 3 squares of) you when you go to the next floor. You can bring over a dozen orcs with you, but it's tedious. Most people end-up having 3-4 powerful orcs follow them and leave the rest behind.

Lets face it, its one of the best books in the game. Everything but Projected Noise is very useful, and I'm sure someone out there has figured out some use for Noise.

I'm currently stuck in a hole. I've cleared Orc as far as I can, can't deal with the wargs in there. The lowest dungeon level has at least one perma invisible monster on it, and I can't see invisibility. Guess I'm stuck with the Lair and a prayer.

Question: Has anyone used airstrike? I've heard good things about it having smite targetting, but nothing about if it actually works in practice.

If player-cast Airstrike is anything like Gastronog's Airstrike, it's awesome.

Yep, sounds about right. Personally, I'm not a fan of these invisible demons, but thank god for the Shoals. Found a store with a ring of see invisible.

If you want lots of cheap minions, you can also worship Kikubaq.... can't spell his name, much less pronounce it. He appreciates killing, and gives you corpses. Great for going through Pandemonium or the Abyss as a vamp necro, since you can't carry enough food for yourself otherwise. Summon corpses, eat some, animate the rest.
