Interestingly, in feudal kingdoms this was usually not true; political connections were among people, not the land, so a man beholden to the law of one place is still beholden to the law of that place and no other, even if he is currently somewhere else. If you have a problem with it, properly speaking, you take it up with his liege - so in this case I suppose the correct thing to do is A.

801 AD, Winter

As promised by the mines' manager, the gold bullion has arrived! The Treasurer is absolutely giddy for being able to check the purity of the gold.

801 AD, Midwinter

An infant's cry echoes through the walls of the royal bedroom as the wet nurse quickly wraps the boy in cloth. Your wife is laying on the bed, muttering prayers to the Pantheon.

You look into the boy's dark eyes, the same hue as yours and your wife's.

"Atlarien." Milka speaks up suddenly, sitting up on the bed. "The boy's name is Atlarien. So decrees the Pantheon." Your son and heir. Atlarien.

801 AD, Late Winter

You know of harsh winters and heavy snowfall, but this is something surreal.

The blizzard is now entering its third day. Peasants and commoners can't shovel the snow off the streets of the capital fast enough to clear them. Few homesteads had to be evacuated after the thick layer of snow crushed the roofs underneath.

The freezing wind creeps through every crack and hole in the palace walls, too, and servants complain of cold. Few are even mildly frostbitten, their thumbs and toes getting that ugly shade of blue.

A) Pray to the Pantheon that it stops this freezing weather.
B) It's just wintery weather. It will pass.

Next morning, the peoples of Bailemarr wake up to see the clear skies and sun high above. The snow's still there, but the blizzard has ceased.

People praise the Pantheon and your leadership.

801 AD, End of the Year

First snow-blooms peek through the snow, which is melting already. "Next year will be a hot one." Your wife says wistfully, craddling little Altarien.

PSYCH! Here comes the Advisor, carrying, obviously, the Scrolls of Kingdom Status.

Anyway, I think B might be worthwhile as a precaution. We are at least somewhat provoking one of our neighbors, what with the poaching thing we did.
Preferably, happiness doesn't drop below 3, though.
