Pregame Design Phase of Turn 2:Minnow Class Patrol Corvette
The Minnow is a 400 ton vessel mounting one 3-inch gun on a prow turret, two 2-inch guns per side in independent turrets, and twin forwards wing mounted torpedo launchers, one on either side of the ship armed with Mjolnir Class Self Propelled Torpedoes, and one additional torpedo launcher on the aft centerline. It also has multiple mounting locations for machine guns, light autocannons, and other such arms to be provisioned once the department of supply gets around to revising access to such weapons. Defensively it is mostly unarmed, protected only against enemy machine gun type fire and grenades and suchlike across most of its hull, with some additional plating around the ships engineering space equaling 1 inch of armor. Speed wise the Minnow is meant to reach at least 24 knots. If possible, and space can be found, the Minnow class is also to carry the quarters needed to carry an extra platoon of marines and two small boats for use in interdicting smugglers and other patrol type duties. Or boarding enemy wrecks, small outposts, and suchlike. This is not to be done if it would negatively effect the ship's combat abilities though.

Time: 2-1=1The Minnow is a good Corvette that likely could do a decent job as a torpedo boat destroyer, armed with one three inch gun at the bow, nearby the bridge and two two inch guns slightly forward of the main funnel of the craft. In addition, it has three torpedo launchers, one on either side of the forward superstructure and one in the center near the aft superstructure. However, it was designed with mundane patrol type duties and a light amount of transport in mind. It does these well, and can make a speed of 24 knots as desired, along with extra quarters for a Platoon and two small boats with the equipment to put them back aboard the vessel with ease and also a small position where any damage on said boats can be attended to. All of these are at the aft of the ship.
Unfortunately, after through review, a inch of armor for the craft was found impractical, as to have an engine large and powerful enough to bring it to 24 knots reliably, as well as to add armor to the small hull of the ship, was found to be impractical and more cost inducing than desired. Despite this however, the ship has good maneuverability, as expected of its size and speed, and should do decently as both a patrol vessel and as a first line of defense.

Serpent Class Light Armored Cruiser
This 4000 ton craft has several inches of armor as befits an armored cruiser, even a light one, meant to make it highly resistant to totally immune to enemy fire of 3-inch guns, or even 4-inchers if possible without taking up too much weight, as well as having additional armor thickness around the main engineering space. Offensively the Serpent carries three 6-inch Cannons, two mounted onto a single turret in front and the last one at the rear of the ship. For secondary armament the serpent carries six 3 inch cannons in single turrets, with three to a side, and has two submerged torpedo tubes, one to each side. Each of the six-inch turrets carries a gun shield thick enough to be immune to direct hits of 4 inch guns, and the Serpent has an overall defensively-oriented layout, ensuring that even if a shot successfully penetrates the damage will be minimized. Speed wise the Serpent is intended to reach at least 17 knots, though if higher speeds are possible they would be desired.

Time: 2The Serpent Class 'Light Armored Cruiser' as we are calling it, is our best work so far, and likely will be held as a staple for future cruiser designs, at least ones that are properly armored and not merely protected anyway. With great pride we can safely say it is wondrous. With very careful work, we made the armor thick enough to be able to deflect four inch guns that hit the armor while that armor relatively light thanks to a few little techniques in the construction process, along with the layout of the armor and compartments as well, resulting in the ship being able to better deal with hits taken that penetrate and flooding due to their design as well as being a bit cheaper to build.
The engine is no different, able to take the craft a full two knots faster than we initially expected, partially due to the extra weight we could allocate to the engine and some other factors, such as the propellers and shape of the hull. Of course, while well armored and fast, it also has been well armed, with two six inch cannons at the front in a turret, and one six inch cannon in the back, both in proper turrets, while the secondary armament of three inch guns, three per side of the ship, have nice, not as thick, gun shields to protect them. Lastly, submerged torpedo launchers on both port and starboard sides of the craft near the center have been installed to allow the ship to finish off any enemy cruiser that has its engine knocked out, and assist in the scuttling of any ships that we require to be.
