You are in their mythos...thats not really worship. Since they only tell stories of the existence of you folks.

Question #3: Directly talking to mortals? Wouldn't that melt their minds?

1. Mortal Worship gets you more acts. If you don't get worship by turn ten your house will start breaking apart, as you can no longer hold the throne. That is a soft cap, i intended to warn those that were worshipless by then, but might as well tell now.

2. No one said life is unsupportable there. The First is deadly right now because no one made it habitable. The Magical Storms are in fact not that horrible. Its practically the same regular storms

3. Talking to them in their dreams is theoretically possible, as the mortal mind is far more flexible there. If you speak to them directly however like Tartin is about to do...he however will come upon the same problem, for the power of whatever controls gambits is strong and it does not take kindly to interlopers.

EDIT: similiarly what Tartin is doing is also a good way of talking to mortals, by changing his appearance and not exposing a mortal to his full divine self, mortals can talk to him fairly normally.

Well I'd have played things a little differently if I had known that was the case. Still good to know.

Also, I find it humorous that the actual god of darkness is considered to be one of the sun gods.

Nope none of you have any true worship right now. For now its just beings creating their own creation myth. As they advance ahead their society will grow more sophisticated and sooner or later they will start erecting temples and proper worship.

Mind you don't have to be necessarily a "good" god to them to recieve acts/worship. Being The Antagonist of a Faith will also gain you some power (although more miniscule). As the society grows more complex they will differentiate more and more between their gods, having main gods, lesser gods, pantheon positions and so forth.
