Yeah, Kot, 27mm isn't exactly going to eat medium tanks, that's baloney.

But 27mm is still the right choice for killing aircraft. The reason 27mm is a good choice is because it's optimizing the number of barrels and rate of fire with the range at which a man can accurately sight and fire on an aircraft by mechanical means. Radar is a bonus and it makes sense for the Shilka because the tank is designed to fire on the move which reduces your expected effective range (even though in practice the Shilka usually fires from a stationary position). That's clearly not the intent with the Sewing Machine but I expect that more often than not men will be using these without radar assistance, so in the end I think 23mm wins out for the task of killing aircraft.

About the sewing machine we can't get proximity rounds on it. Cannla's proximity rounds are limited to shells 100mm and up, so using them on 30mm autocannons rounds are a no go.

We've got better RADAR tech though, and we have managed to make cheap, small RADAR. Downsizing it nad making it passive shouldn't be too hard.

I would definitely avoid gunning for the proxy fuzes because you’re doing that as part of a revision which already isn’t quite insignificant, with a missile’s proxy system we don’t even fully understand.

30mm? You might be able to fit a single vacuum tube inside that. Unless proximity fuses somehow don't need an amplification circuit...

Jet Engine Reliability Overhaul

A series of reliability upgraded to our jet fleet and ground equipment, with a focus on winter weather operations and planes with a "Q" in their name. Engines are tweaked to better handle wet air, de-icing sprays (inspired by Cannalan rum, but actually produced by horses due to sanitation concerns) are rolled out to remove ice from planes before use, an electric heater is installed in aircraft wings to inhibit ice buildup in flight, and "Q"s work correctly. Also call it the Master Edition, because our music is like, 30 years ahead of its time, man.

(Target of normal difficulty, unless I'm underestimating the engine tweaks. Q fixes should be trivial difficulty this time.)

Hm. I suppose the smallest I've seen VT fuze fitting was like 40mm, but the argument of "it actually doesn't have enough explosive to meaningfully explode in proximity" hokds.

UF-SPAAS-44 "Sewing Machine":
The Sewing Machine is a quad-mount turret for Velociraptor guns, mounted on an Artemis truck. A second truck carries a radar array which can control the gun (through hydraulic motors) based on a system similar to the Longshot. Like the Longshot, the control over the motors isn't terribly precise, and it's especially not precise enough to aim at aircraft. For this reason it's controlled manually by a gunner, the automatic-aim system moves the entire gunner seat and the gunner aims relative to where the radar is pointing the run, trying to estimate for lead and drop as well as general inaccuracy. Unfortunately this is quite hard to do. At least gunners get Horsekiller-style optical sights to help them out. [Complex] [4 Ore, 2 Oil]

We still HAVE the AA, and it'll work just fine without radar guidance, as far as shoot down helos goes.

Also, Sensei still needs to reconsider the design proposal, because he appears to have misunderstood how it worked with radar.
