Karses II, Friend of Caesar, Heir to the Loam Coast, and Descendant of the Divine Clay Elf Bloodline:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Xamut seems to resist instruction to go obtain medical attention at first, but once you use your authority as Pharaoh and order him to fall back and rest up, he agrees to do so without complaint, and even thanks you for the instruction. You get the feeling that your twin brother is a reasonable person, albeit one shackled by his own pride.

You order your fleet split five ways. Tsunamia, Jericho, Rixixifux, and Captain Tiber will each take their share of your ships to hunt down what is left of the Humpback Island navy, while the remaining boats will escort Xamut and yourself to Tideus' castle. There is some grumbling; Although Tsunamia has earned the respect of the clay elves over the course of her stay with the fleet, you can tell your sailors are not comfortable under the human command of Tiber and Jericho.

In reguards to the plunder, you give the captured warships to Jericho, and have the rank and file prisoners crammed into the holds of the ships returning to the castle with you. Surprisingly the clay elf sailors seems pleased with this arrangement, and it is only once you are several days into your week-long journey that you figure out why...

As they can safely drink the ocean, clay elf ships carry very little potable water. By the time you approach your destination, you have lost 80% of the rank and file captives to dehydration. As you sail with a mostly human crew, and as such carry plenty of water, the important captives aboard the Wayward Clay fare much better. You lose one enemy captain to suicide, and another to an infected wound, but everybody else remains healthy.

---

You have heard legends of Drydock Bay, the largest port in the Everstorm Lands and the seat of the demon Tideus' power, but you have never visited before. As the word bay in its name suggests, the body of water itself is surrounded on three sides by beautiful and steep green mountains. The medium sized inlet is home to several small and low lying seaside villages and naval bases, but the main attraction is the castle at Tusk Falls high up on the cliffs above the point of the bay that is furthest from the open sea.

After announcing yourself to the guardboat, the Wayward Clay is moved to a specific point just below the water fall, and hooked up to a powerful system of winches and ropes. Over the next fifteen minutes, your flagship is lifted three quarters of a mile out of the water up to the castle, where you disembark, and are greeted by the Sky Demon Jetstrem, one of your future father-in-laws advisers.

Jetstrem is the first full-blooded non-petty demon you have ever met, and his appearence is quite terrifying. He takes the form of an eagle the size of a lion, with the head of a man. His feathers are blood-red, and his talons metal. Your strange host leads Xamut away to the infirmary, and gives you a private tour of Tideus' drydocks...

You have never seen so many warships in one place in your life. You knew from various reports that Tideus' fleet is about 450 warships strong, but count easily twelve times that many in a colossal cavern dug into the cliff face. The Sky Demon explains that Tideus has many more ships than he has sailors to man them. You are also told he also keeps a personal collection of mighty and famous ships from history and legend, but that Tideus prefers to show those ones off himself.

After touring the boats, you are brought to a small but luxurious hilltop cabin overlooking the bay on the castle grounds, your home for the foreseeable future. As Tideus is currently at war, the cursed Everstorm lands are a beautiful place. Everyday outside your cabin is just warm enough for you to comfortably frolic and the meadows and swim in the nearby lakes. You are glad life at Tusk Falls Castle is so pleasant, as a good amount of time passes here...

---

After a day passes to transfer the surviving prisoners to Tideus' dungeons and resupply your ships, what is left of your fleet leaves under the command of one of Xamut's senior captains to reinforce and resupply Tideus' blockade.

---

After a week passes, phyiscians report that it looks as if your brother's arm can be saved. He will likely lose some range of motion in his non-dominant arm and hand, but should be able to command ships again without issue.

---

After another two weeks pass, the portions of your fleet commanded by Tideus and Jerhico arrive within a day of each other. Each officer has had modest success hunting down ennemy ships, although due to the potable water issue nobody was able to return with any live prisoners.

Jericho and his men are in poor condition themselves; They stayed at sea for a bit longer than their water supply should have allowed for and are rather dehydrated. The clay elves under your old friend's command, however, were impressed with Jericho's leadership, saying that his balls-to-the-wall leadership style reminds them of your father. As your friend's body recovers, however, you begin to notice that his mood dampens. After a few days, he confides in you that he is jealous that Caesar is willing to permit Xamut, the son of his mortal enemy to return to imperial controlled lands, but still wont forgive him, only the nephew of a much lesser foe.

The crew that returned with Tiber, meanwhile, was nearly at the point of mutiny when it returned. Clearly whatever happened at sea did little to endear your personal captain to your new subjects... Tiber now bears a scar across his face that looks like it could have been inflicted by a clay elf sailor's ceramic dagger, but the old man deflects your inquiries on the matter, claiming he has dealt with it himself.

---

After another two and a half weeks, Tsunamia returns with her portion of your fleet. Your bride to be informs you that she and the ships under Rixixifux's command wound up perusing hostile boats that fled in the general direction of Humpback Island, and wound up meeting with her father's blockade force after they had conducted their business. Rixixifux remains with Tideus for the time being, commanding both the ships you left him, and the ships you sent back to the blockade.

Tsunamia claims that although she was not the one to tell him, her father had managed to catch wind of her engagement to you, and sends word of his general approval. The sea demon looks forward to meeting you upon his return, but also extends an invitation for you to sail to Humpback Island and participate in the eventual negotiation of Mooselund XIII's surrender if you wish to do so.

The blue witch also informs you that the Blue Charm has returned bearing news from home. She gives you the breakdown on the important details:

-Caesar Menas sends his approval of your marriage. He awaits a formal invitation, and looks forward to negotiating peace or even some sort of alliance with Tideus over the festivities.
-Your father escaped execution when your brother-in-law Senator Brutus Canis convinced the five high judges of the heartland to overule Caesar's death sentence. Your father has renounced his claim to the title of Pharaoh, and is free to live out the rest of his days so long as he never returns home or sets foot on a ship again.
-The stay of execution has made Caesar come across as quite weak. There are rumors that some judges and senators may be involved in some sort of powerplay against him.
-Prince Terriz Algers, the high elf investor charged with ending the cloth monopoly, has managed to leverage Tsunamia's fleet as well as a political marriage to the daughter of a nearby Imperial Governor to overthrow his father and brothers, take control of Quicksilver for himself, and align with his new father-in-law in an open war against Kailine's hometown of Bronzesword. You are sure this will spell the end of the Monopoly, but you also know well that any warfare in the politically unstable eastern provinces could easily get out of hand.

You once again have access to 3/5ths of our fleet, so you may send messages or travel as you see fit. If you choose not to travel, how do you wish to spend your time at Tusk Falls Castle until Tideus returns?

Eeeeep. I have a feeling having our da running around isn't a good idea. True, he does seem to genuinely love us, but it still seems dangerous. We should probably send an escort to wherever he's staying so that we can make sure he stays agreeable to our rule.

I also have a bad feeling about our brother-in-law. Can our fiancee do any magic to find out more about him?

Head to Humpback Island to oversee the negotiations as well as organise a wedding. As for Tiber, we should ask around and find out what happened.

Only if he wins the war decisively. If it ends with only minor concessions and the monopoly being broken we'd have come out like bandits.

Aaaaaaaand we're monsters.

Agreed. Presumably we'll want to bring the fancy prisoners, either to bargain with or give as a gift. Um. I'm not sure 20% is a great number of common prisoners to have to explain, but I'm not sure it's better than 0%. So... we should probably bring what common prisoners we still have also.

Regardless of the nature of Tiber's incident, this will likely add to the effect of him stepping down and being replaced with a proper clay elf. I still think we should give him a raise, though.

Regarding political concerns: I'm not worried about our father. He lost. I'm not worried about our brother in law either, but if there was ever a thing to keep an eye on, someone with a blood claim on our throne and deep ties to the imperial senate would be it.

The prince is what bothers me most. This could be fantastic for us, it could come back to bite us in the arse. It's a wobbly situation and we know almost nothing of the specifics.

I'd be all for joining up with Tideus
Unless we want a honey-moon in advance with his daughter, I see little reason to frolick about while there is work that we could do.
Joining with more ships to pressure the humpbacks, and possibly negotiating with them, all seem like fine ideas to me.
Jericho should rest up first, if he even wants to push his troops to join up with us later. As said previously, the war is already won.

I see no reason not to

Smalltalk
Caesar might currently be in a waning position back at home, but if he pulls off anything positive with Tideus while visiting, he ought to recover. Let's be sure to invite him - him falling from grace, wouldn't bode well for our own future either.
While the festivities take place, might also be a good time to get Jericho the amnesty he seemingly wants. After what he pulled for us, and with even our "somewhat" racist troops taking a liking to him, I'd say he has earned himself as much.

Good point. Unless Caesar has some kind of personal grudge going on, it should be a pretty trivial matter.

Karses II, Friend of Caesar, Heir to the Loam Coast, and Descendant of the Divine Clay Elf Bloodline:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You decide to give Tsunamia and her fleet a few days of shore leave, but announce that all your ships will soon be setting out to join up with Tideus' siege force.

At your prompting, Tsunamia disembowels one of her father's prisoners for a reading of the entrails specifically regarding your father, brother-in-law, and Caesar. After spending a few hours in the torture chamber, your bride-to-be offers the following report.

Senator Brutus Canis only took up the case of your father as he is married to your sister and wanted to show that he was a dutiful husband and son-in-law. Although he argued to spare your father to the best of his ability, Brutus didn't think for a moment he had any real chance of swaying the judges. Indeed, Tsunamia informs you, the judges are united in support of a conspiracy to dispose of Caesar Menas and replace him with a close blood relative.

Tsunamia could not see the name of the conspirator in her reading, but you have some good ideas as to who it might be. Caesar Prudens, the eldest son and heir apparent to the emperor, often complains that he fears his siblings are plotting against him. Prudens is perhaps too virtuous to put a conspiracy into motion on his own, but he commands great loyalty in his underlings, and you wouldn't put it past one of them to act on his behalf and ensure he takes the throne before some treacherous brother bumps him off.

For the most part, Prudens fear of brotherly betrayal is unjustified paranoia, but there is one brother of his you wouldn't put treachery past. Caesar Cleptes is the emperor's third eldest son, and currently an imperial senator. Cleptes is not above a bit of skulduggery to advance his position; You know this from experience as he has often found ways to latch onto yourself and Brutus to exploit the elf rights movement for his personal gain. He also has serious bad blood with his older brother, as Prudens never hesitates to berate him for his many indiscreet romantic relationships.

Although you worry for Caesar and his family, a coup by either brother is likely of little threat to you in the short run. You are on pretty good terms with Prudens, and although your relationship with Cleptes is frosty in private, he is publicly an ally to the elf rights movement. That said, either could prove some trouble as well. Prudens, a huge advocate of imperial norms and virtues, will not be happy with you if you wind up 'going native' in either your love life or style of governance, and although you have a hard time imagining such a situation, you don't doubt for a second that Cleptes would destroy you if he thought it might benefit him.

---

You demand the truth about the scar from Tiber. It takes only a little bit of prodding to get the loyal captain to talk. Apparently a female Clay Elf sailor named Estillixia seduced him, took him to bed, and then cried rape to the rest of the crew. A handful of sailors put in a damn good attempt to avenge their colleage's honor by trying to kill him, but luckily Tiber was able to defend himself long enough to talk sense into the group; Luckily for him, Estillixia has a reputation for pulling such stunts, so he was able to convince his initial attackers of his innocence, but rumors spread across his little fleet and fired up many sailors who didn't know Estillixia to oppose him.

---

Leaving Jericho and his men to recover, you pack your prisoners (and plenty of water to sustain them) and set out for Humpback Island. The journey is relatively short, the winds are in your favor, and the sea is calm, so you complete the trip in a little over four days. After reuniting with the ships under Rixixifux's command, Tsunamia takes you into the heart of the blockade force to meet her father.

Tideus' flagship, Arctic Typhoon, is easily the most intimidating seafaring vessel you have ever seen. It is easily five times the size of any warship you have laid eyes on, and constructed from some strange glowing purple lumber. The bow is decorated with a mass of skulls that seem to independently shift around and chatter amounts themselves. Due to the difference in deck heights, you have to be brought aboard via winch and large bucket.

The sea demon himself is as frightening as his ride. Tideus takes the form of a mighty walrus that stands one and a half times the size of an elephant with blood red flesh. His tusks are comprised of barbed and rotating segments, seemingly designed to drill into and rend flesh, or even wood. Only the upper part of your future father-in-laws face, which houses human-like brown eyes and a thick head of black hair, betrays the fact that a sentient being and not a monster stands before you.

Communication is rough, as aside from the native tounge of the frost elves, which you only speak at a rudimentary level, the pair of you has no common language, leaving Tsunamia to step in and translate often. The demon seems fond of you, and thrilled in anticipation for the wedding. He makes only two demands of you in exchange for his daughter. First, if he manages to win the right to navigate imperial waters under the flag of peace, he wants to be able to stop his fleet and purchase supplies at the ports of the Loam Coast. Secondly, he wants you to eventually send him a child should you have an abundance of offspring by his daughter.

You learn that Tsunamia is actually heir to a small county in the heart of the Everstorm Lands, and aside from her childless middleaged aunt, your wife-to-be is the last of her bloodline. Tsunamia refuses her birthright - the blood of a sea demon flows strong in her to the point where she has do desire to rule over a territory more than a week's travel from the ocean, but Tideus loves her late mother too much to allow her lands to fall from the control of her family. Tideus would prefer you send him an heir to his lover's land at a young age, so that the child may be groomed for the job, but has no qualms about waiting a good amount of time to receive it. He can appoint a temporary ruler should Tsunamia's aunt die before a successor is ready.

The discussion then moves on to the topic of a dowry. As a show of his naval strength, the sea demon insists that the bulk of the payment be given in the form of two hundred unmanned warships. He does, however, offer you a choice of interesting boons to go along with the boats.

Tideus floats the idea of binding a lesser demon to your service to help you in various ways at court. Right now he has available a Gladiator Demon (skilled in close quarters urban fighting and guard work), a Night Demon (skilled in the arts of spying and intrigue), and a Flower Demon (skilled in the natural sciences and some magics). Tsunamia notes that the act of summoning and binding a non-petty demon would likely create new runes for her to experiment with.

Outside of demonic servants, Tideus would be willing to give you a legendary ship from his personal collection. The Misty Dawn is an incredibly fast and light combat worthy ship said to be one of the original vessels sailed by your ancestors from Elvir to the newly formed earth. Infernal Revenge is an ancient vessel made from the bones and scales of a mighty dragon, and covered in runes spawned by the great lizard's death; The ships was commanded by many famed witches throughout history before falling into the demons hand, and would make a great flagship for his daughter. Lastly Tideus offers you the Imperial Crown, a ship designed and built by Caesar's predecessor that was said to be the mightiest warship ever made by human hands. The Imperial Crown famously proved a match for Tideus' might, until the demon used trickery to capture it.

Although the demon is estatic about giving you something spectacular, you could always request something more mundane, such as the food, money, and/or raw materials required to rebuild the war ravaged Loam Coast. Also, although Tideus is quite frightening and difficult to communicate with, you could attempt to leverage your powerful negotiation talents to walk away with more than one of the offered boons.

Next your conversation migrates to the details of the wedding itself, and in particular, its location. It slowly begins to dawn on you that yours might be the most significant wedding of your lifetime, so the matter is worth some thought.

By putting the wedding in either the Everstorm Lands or the Imperial Heartland, you would give either Caesar Menas or Tideus the opportunity to host the other in front of their court, thus strengthening the public appearance of the bond you hope the union will form. In the heartland you could host the wedding at your own mansion or country home, thus showcaseing your own personal wealth, or allow Caesar to host it at the impressive Imperial Palace. Tideus suggests either his home at Tusk Falls Castle, or the beautiful Cathedral at the Yawning Chasm on the land Tsunamia would have inherited, should you wish to get married in the Everstorm Lands. He also notes that thanks to his present war, the weather in his cursed kingdom should be perfect for the next year or so.

Although you doubt getting married to an outsider in the Loam Coast would endear you to your new subjects, it would provide you the opprotunity to hobnob with neighboring leaders, many of whom idolize you but despise your people. Traditionally, if the Pharroh of the Loam Coast gets married after the death of a litter-mate, as would be the case for you, the wedding is held at his litter's tomb so that the departed sibling can participate.

If you wish to toot your own horn, or pick a completely neutral site, perhaps the best place to hold the wedding would be in one of the Northern, Ancient, or Eastern provinces, places long held by the empire and home to some of your best work on behalf of the rights of elfkind. You could host the event at one of your many plantations, or rent out one of the many beautiful manors and palaces used by rich imperials for destination weddings.

Lastly, you could hold the wedding at sea, showing off the combined naval power of all parties involved in the wedding. You could hold a sea wedding off the coast of any of the aforementioned places, gaining most of the advantages and disadvantages of a land wedding in that area. Although fewer common-folk could attend such an event, you would have more control over the guests that do show up. Tsunamia would prefer a sea-wedding, but as she understands the political gravity of the situation, will not make a big deal over it if you choose to get married on land.

Eventually wedding talk wraps up, and Tideus briefs you on the Humpback Island situation. Tideus had initially started the war in hopes of destroying the ports at Humpback Island and depriving his rival Caesar a regional ally. With your upcoming wedding in mind, however, this has become less of an issue, and your future father-in-law is now willing accept some sort of significant ransom to spare the place. He plans to summon Mooselund XIII to the negotiation table tomorrow, and hopes to his foe will accept peace at the price of gold, a share in ownership of the island's mines, and one of his daughters a personal concubine to Tideus. Your reputation as a legendary busniesself precedes you, so Tideus wishes to hear your feedback on his proposed terms, and invites you to run the negotiation on behalf of your new father-in-law should you wish to do so.

We should certainly help negotiate the settlement, might I suggest letting Mooselund XIII speak with a few highborn and lowborn prisoners (who he can then take with him) so he knows the mercy he can expect if he does not agree.

While a magic demon and the ancient ship are both neat, we will need supplies to rebuild our nation.  Are we planning to sell the business once the monopoly is broken or should we use this opportunity to get the stuff we need?

We should remove Tiber from our fleet and have him join the command of our wife's fleet, he is very loyal, I would like him to be watching her back.

Also, we should hold the wedding ceremony at sea, at our province or at the imperial palace.  Bonus with the palace is our father and brother can both be there.  Also the imperial court gets to see a walrus borer demon up close!

The ancient elven ship would be neat given our politics.

Maybe ask Tidus to gift us the Misty Dawn and Tsunamia Infernal Revenge as a paired of nuptial gift.

After we get him a favorable negotiation of course.  Maybe try and push to have the ports of Humpback Island open to resupply his ships?

I'd say we make a Sea Wedding, in Imperial Waters
It is most fitting for what it is to come, because with these three factions at peace / bound together, their future will be about ships, ships, and more ships. Their wars out of the way, that energy will instead be focused on finding common markets between themselves, and exploring new ones - with enemies that can stand up to them, even fewer in number. In short, a marine monopoly of sorts. Besides, showing off the might of Tideus & our Fleet combined, in imperial waters for lesser merchants and paper-pushers of the senate to see, will do wonders to our position in these new markets to come. After all, us marrying Tsunamia, will be the cornerstone of this new peace / possible alliance. A point that we should exploit as soon as possible.

Try to gain another wedding gift, by making a smashing deal with Mooselund #13
A good deal of the reasons for him to accept such a deal, are already written above. As one of the locals, he will be in a unique position to bridge trade with Tideus and the empire - something that he should easily be able to capitalize on. We also can invite him to our wedding, and introduce him to our merchant contacts / cut him a deal with our own company. I'd wager we would find some common ground there somewhere. Instead of getting ruined by his demon neighbhour, he gets the deal of a lifetime - and all of that for just the slightly high, but still very reasonable price of x.

Wedding Gift of choice - Misty Dawn
The Ancestral Elven ship, would paint us in just the light that we need in the future - an appeal to shared elven heritage. With the new marine monopoly in the works, there are new markets which we - and only we - could gain access to. Those, of other elven nations and tribes. Already hailed as a saint, we previously have given elves in the empire full citizen rights. Now, we can pave the way for other elves to enter the imperial market - and best of all, our ships won't attack theirs anymore, possibly even hunting other local pirates instead (or other naval enemies to these elven nations). Obviously, we would take our cut / have a monopoly on some of their goods - but with our ceramic weapons in high demand, we already have a monopoly good of our own that they might desire highly. Not to speak of our own fleet of merchant ships, which would make us prepared to make good on those trade agreements.

Possible second gift - Night Demon
Our position as the link between Tideus forces and the empire, will easily have us as a prime target to anyone who is hostile to one of these two factions. We also will bring quite the change towards clay elven society, and something capable and undoubtedly loyal to watch our back, would suit us just fine. Should future plans work out as intended, all the more so.

Bonus Thought - Another Wedding:
Xamut is our twin brother, and according to our faith, another vessel in which our god shares in. War-Queen Whipscale, already worships our ancestors as is - becoming our sister in law / her children becoming part of that holy bloodline via our brother, ought to suit her just fine. We needn't restrict ourself to only making trade-deals with other elven nations~

Keep. More fun, and having business interests abroad will likely be more stable than putting all of our eggs in one provincial basket.

I'm not sure Tiber has the stomach for Tsunamia's brand of cruelty.

I think we should take the Flower Demon for our dowry. A legendary flagship or spy demon would be neat, but here's the thing: The flagship is basically just useful for making us even tougher on the water and giving us street cred. Wave cred? Making sure everyone knows we're awesome. The spy demon just lets us scheme against our enemies and know which enemies are scheming against us. Both are very immediate, and neither lets us do anything we couldn't before, it just makes us better at them.

The Flower Demon, on the other hand, comes with two benefits. One, it knows natural sciences and some magic. Two, it gives Tsunamia bonus runes to work with. Both of which might synergize amazingly with our unique art of Claychantment, especially since we have to rebuild our infrastructure from the ground up anyway. Think of the wondrous blasphemies we might be able to pull off by combining a divine art with demonic cunning and magics. Shapechanging ships? Clay submarines? Weapons whose strength outstrips even steel? Living seaweed enchanted to mimic enchanted clay's properties?

Maybe not, but we won't know if we don't try.

Nobody's mentioned it yet, but both of Tideus' demands are nonissues. Even if they weren't making peace we'd probably be tempted to turn a blind eye to our father in law's forces doing business in our lands, and we'll no doubt have a surplus of quality children from Tsunamia.

I agree with a sea wedding in Imperial Waters. The sea part should be sufficiently Tideusy and the imperial part sufficiently Caesary to make it a good show of unity, and the imperial population probably needs more convincing than the Everstorm Islands crowd. Our own province would be nice, but if it's just going to piss off the commoners there's not a ton of point.

For negotiations, both with Humpback Island and our dowry, I suggest we try to negotiate some supplies to help rebuild the Loam Coast as an additional dowry, partially in exchange for attempting to cut a better deal with Mooseland. We have the edge in diplomacy and several important hostages (and a mild number of unimportant hostages) to barter with.

Tideus' deal as it stands is good, because it helps tie the two together. Tideus getting some of Mooseland's mines means neither can mess with the other without some economic loss, and gaining a concubine will hopefully help them bond rather than offend one or both for some reason. With us at the helm and his brother and captains as additional concessions, we should be able to boost the numbers a bit.

If it's of any value to Tideus, we could also try to get Mooseland to open up his ports to Tideus' forces as well. It might be an economic boost and would only be relevant if they're not at war again, so aside from lingering bile there's no reason not to. It could also help cement Humpback Island as useful to Tideus, which in turn reduces its odds of becoming useful for other purposes.

This is an excellent thought. More generally, diplomacy with our elven neighbors is going to be a project in its own right, and political marriages are a time-honored way of trying to smooth things over. Good thing we have a lot of siblings...

+1 for flower demon and sea wedding in imperial watters. Maybe see if we can get a little ritual done to bring our dead siblings' spirit to the wedding? See if thats even theoretically possible.
+1 to getting Tideus some mines/open ports on Humpback Island.

I also suggest opening up a trading house for Loam Coast merchants/OUR merchants as part of the peace deal, as well as reduced tariffs, if there are any.

We should certainly help negotiate the settlement, might I suggest letting Mooselund XIII speak with a few highborn and lowborn prisoners (who he can then take with him) so he knows the mercy he can expect if he does not agree.

-1 for showing him the common prisoners. We did perform manslaughter on 80% of the crew after all. Would've been better to kill them outright if we remembered that humies needed so much water.

EDIT: Just to further add how important the Flower Demon is, remember that it knows science. Sure, we can make a clay ship and maybe a few pyramids, but this demon can devise reasons as to why we're able to do it and use that knowledge for other applications. Imagine for example if he figured out that clayenchantment didn't work because of clay, but because of a certain material in the clay. Suddenly we're able to just coat the substance in metal or whatever and clayenchant anything.
