Huh. Apparently response to the tariffs have included such gems as Juncker going, "We can also do stupid." Yeeaah, we're about to have a trade war, alright. Wasn't much chance of otherwise, really, but considering the extent of trump's self control and skin thickness, whatever chance there was has pretty certainly vanished in the face of notably visible people calling it like it is.

Juncker has a pretty light trigger finger, but people like Macron and Merkel will be able to keep him from doing anything brash in a way that Pence cannot keep Trump in line

Alternatively, maybe the guy heard about his meeting with American steel execs and thought about Trump's behavior regarding corporations. That was my second thought, anyway.

Possible, but more likely Icahn advised Trump to do this:

USA's two term thing has only been in since after FDR, it was passed as a constitutional amendment in 1947. So, if the Supreme Court was to overturn the 22nd Amendment, then Trump could keep running for as long as he lives, but he'd still have to win elections.
