The underground base is rumbling as the self-destruct system has been activated, and the party is running for the exit. The roof of the hallway collapses in front of them, blocking their path by debris. The Commissar pulls out the Baneblade and sets her on the floor in front of him.
Begin unopposed match of WH40K.Pregame:- Decide mission: "Get us the fuck outta here!"
- Choose armies: Imperial Guard: 1x Baneblade
- Place objectives: The exit from this base
- Deploy armies: 1x Baneblade: right in front of us
(Some pregame phases skipped as they don't really apply here.)
The Baneblade grows to full size and the party hops inside her. The Commissar stays partially outside with his waist around the hatch like a true tank commander.
Turn 1:- Movement: The Baneblade moves forward, ignoring the debris as super-heavy vehicles can ignore many kinds of obstacles.
In the time this took to set up, the BBEG has remotely closed a blast door, blocking progress.
(No unit in play is a psyker, so the Psychic phase is skipped)
- Shooting: The Baneblade fires the Mega Battle Cannon at the door.
The dice are in the heroes' favour, and the door blasts open. However, the PA system gives its final 30-second warning for the self-destruct sequence. The Commissar orders everyone to grab onto something as he points at the nearest wall, whispering a command.
- Assault: The Baneblade rams into the wall.
The dice are merciful again, and the wall comes down with barely a scratch on the Baneblade's armour.
Turn 2:- Movement: Now almost outside the base, the Baneblade speeds towards the objective, reaching it and taking the last (and only) Victory Point still in play.
Game over, victory points tally:
Imperial Guard wins an overwhelming victory! With the 'battle' over, the party climbs out and the Baneblade shrinks back into a miniature. The Commissar puts her away into hammerspace. "
You did good, beauty."
