Follow-up: as far as I can see, TDS hasn't really made any attempt to convince people not to lynch him today, even though the wagon formed on him basically immediately after his claim. He's explained his claimed role a bit, but hasn't given any reasons for keeping him alive (aside from the claim that he can remove corruption)· WIFOM and all that, but I have a bad feeling about it.

Because we don't win by lynching third parties, primarily. Also because even if TDS is some kind of serial killer tailored to this setup (probably by being some kind of arsonist) he still doesn't have fillipk marked, so he can't win tonight. That means that advancing the search for scum is a higher priority as far as I'm concerned.

I also can't help but think that TDS could have something that he needs to trigger by being lynched considering he knows that claiming a third party role would likely result in immediately getting killed.

Alright, you've pointed out what i've missed, now I'll do the same.

If he's an arsonist variant, and the only person he hasn't marked is fillipk, wouldn't the town lose immediately, regardless of what fillipk is, if he acts tonight?

AFAIK my stuff can be cleaned off because the original firebrick post is now white. But I'll try my best to keep at least two people (preferably both town people) unmarked.

I'll also point out that we have a triple tie between Persus, OSG, and me for lynching. To avoid a nolynch, I'll switch my vote to OSG. If OSG isn't scum, then we still have enough days to lynch all other scum candidates. With two basically confirmed town and probably one mafia member left, the town should be able to win this (assuming that the scum don't kill off the confirmed town, but corruption can be purified/turned firebrick).

I choose RVS because we are in it and I don't like it.

It gets people talking, but nothing from RVS can be used as solid evidence against them because of the nature of RVS. That is why I don't like it. What comes after it is good though.

But as funny as it is, I don't think it's worthy of voting over. Notice in the OP, Meph doesn't say anything about purple. Only when he corrects Jack's post does he declare it to (possibly) mean anything. Jack couldn't have known it was a rule.

I don't understand, what do quotes have to do with any of those abilities? I'm not seeing anything about quotes in the OP or my role PM.

Nothing of note, that I know of. I was thinking of reintroducing the spreadsheet to my play, but I still don't have it working and given the way the game revolves around Meph's mod powers, I don't think it would be as valuable a tool as it would in a game without the mod powers.

Possibly Iron Will or Narrow Path. It's too early to say much, though, and for all we know the protective role could be third-party or mafia. Why does this sound like rolefishing?

Common sense related to the mafia variant's method of corruption for a setup that would be originally played with 13 players. I suspect that the scum doesn't have a nightkill and is going to be corrupting posts to kill. However, one or two measly points of corruption is nonsense. Even with three points of corruption, it's still a two day delay until full corruption, and someone can just cleanse the post. Add in the Disciple of Iron Will, plus the fact that we need three corrupted posts to die? It's way too slow, and would screw the mafia. Which is why I'm going to assume that the Mafia can spread corruption through interaction with quotes, us thinking about already corrupted thoughts in the mindscape. Any other method would be too slow, but this way, with smart play by the mafia, they could keep up a steady flow of kills to counter the town's play. The idea is balanced. It makes the most sense.

iirc, it was a supernatural game a year ago. I think I ended up dying kind of early on and lost because I was a third party.

BHK: You're probably not mafia.  Squirmy paranoia and wild guessing of motives is not behaviour I'd expect from the mafia in RVS.  Plus, you've treated the list of town roles as if it was the list of all roles (scum included), even though the OP doesn't say that and contains evidence of separate non-town roles.  That, though, does not mean as much until we actually catch a scum.

Anyway, you missed the real reason for most (not all, but most) of my questions: poking fun at the pointless questions we ask at the start of every game.  The only one of those seven designed to be productive in any way was the one to Persus, a way to get the issue of post archival in thread and in at least one other player's mind.  The others?
*OSG got the distillation of most start-of-game questions: 'explain theory to me.'  We have tons of specific variants on this idea, and none of them help anyone do much (except, perhaps, miller questions, by sparking stupid debates that get people trying to lynch each other).  Letting OSG choose the aspect of theory throws out even the idea of it being a (quite unnecessary) test of theory knowledge.

*Environment: Agreed.

*Accessibility: Managing sea traffic through the Canadian Arctic at all, legitimate or illegitimate, is extremely difficult with the current state of our Navy (floating rust) and Coast Guard (polar-capable ships are few and quite old).  There's an ongoing major procurement program for both (well, a major vote attraction job creation program that will theoretically get us some ships), the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy, but it's a farce (far fewer ships than originally planned for far more money than the already high costs planned, and we've wasted 6 years already to get no ships).  We have little to no interdiction (or rescue) capability, depending on the time of year.
Luckily, even as it opens up, the Arctic is unlikely to attract much traffic.  It's not great for trade (doesn't significantly shorten many major routes) and it's still going to be an inhospitable and hazardous area requiring expensive specialized equipment/ships/etc. (pushing out most of the petty criminals and the like).  We'll keep on getting cruise ships and 'cruise ships' (foreign intelligence), but I doubt we'll see too much more traffic than we already get.

*Sovereignty: Meh.  There is a reasonable case for the internal waters claim to the Northwest Passage, but it's not a particularly strong one.  The Passage issue, though, is the only one of the territorial disputes that has much potential to cause security problems, and even it is not likely to be too much of a problem (again, not a great route).  Hans Island is a tiny, resource-poor rock on which Canadians and Danes swap liquor.  Hardly matters if we have it or not, particularly since Canada and Denmark have already agreed that the island has no territorial sea (generates no claim to surrounding waters).  The tiny wedge of the Beaufort Sea is a significant sovereignty resource issue, but we've got (and are getting) a ton of Arctic hydrocarbon resources outside of it and our dispute is with a close ally that provides most of our security.  We really should solve the thing, but meh.  We're pretty well-off to have only a few minor territorial disputes with a few friends.

*Solutions: The Canadian Rangers are great, but they can only handle the land.  We need to buy some bloody ships already.

I told you the info I gained from his response and it will affect my decisions, I believe I noted what I would do if Jack was scum and if he was town so I don't get why you are asking me these questions.

I'm not sure. Scum can probably die from their own corruption, but I'll post more theories when I get to the PC.

That mention of extra post statuses scares me. Considering how the game works and if corruption works the way I think, that's a pretty sexy setup for some sort of status based SK/Arsonist equivalent.

It was in the flavor, they are immune to their own corruption.
