House Hawkwood has been cruelly treated by the cronies of the Patriarch and continue vanquishing his minions across our space. This war that they started will not end until never again can the madman indiscriminately kill our subjects.

We have long been friends with the League.

House Li-Halan is currently at peace with both the League, and the official keepers of the faith. However, the demeanor of the patriarchal forces has been such a travesty of piety that we may yet have to lodge more than a formal complaint in their disfavor.

Here's a question: do we have to pay the fee for cities if we go to war with the controlling force? (Church, League, Vau)?

Yikes !

Regarding the first post:

What has become of the second image ? Is this the portrait of the regent ? I'm not sure if a soccer shirt from ancient Urth is proper in this context ? Also, may I respectfully request that the Li-Halan representation be updated for the benefit of the observers.

Regarding paying for land during times of war:

Realism pov: you shouldn't be required to pay. Would you have to pay for conquered cities also ? Stalin certainly did not pay during hostilities.

Play balance pov: folks close to church planets have advantage in exploiting the silly ai. But then again, folks far from church planets do not have to face so much orbital bombardment and hostile brother battle units.

So: realistically no, play balance, maybe ... so my vote is: abstain (in favor of the winning position)

I think paying during war would be silly.
Let's just agree not to blatantly exploit this, e.g. by amassing dozens of engineers, declaring war, colonising the shit out of a planet, and then suing for peace.

House Hazat does not war with either the Church or the League. No doubt they are awed by our military prowess and the regal aura of our office.

I don't know what you mean about a soccer shirt, the second image I currently see is an in game message about Rebellion and Plague combined. I blame tinypic.
But you are absolutely right about the second and it's updated for all current players.

As for payments to warring NPCs I don't see the need for it. I agree it shouldn't be abused but if the AI declares war on you its fair game to go after them. If your wars should end then you should continue to pay them for any new holdings you found on worlds they still own by that point.

I reckon I failed to observe the "Pics or it didn't happen !" rule. Yea, we shall blame tinypic for this (I thought the url was simply recycled but apparently not and tried to be clever but ended up with "mud on your face, big disgrace.")

And here it's the Hawkwood telling the Decados to attack the Holy Church for power and profit.
===========================================

The Imperial Fleet has expanded it's holdings on Stigmata for enhanced repair capacity. The skies of Stigmata remain alien free for now.

House Hawkwood has added two holdings to Tethys.

Church lost 7 cruisers from 13. I lost 5-7 cruisers, 1 or 2 transports and 6 corvettes. Their firepower was much more bigger of mine, but due to routing mechanics it was decreasing quicker then mine and it helped to keep the balance. At the moment my forces are only a bit weaker. I hope I will be able to aid them with cruisers from other star systems.

Luckily it is not a big deal to build new warships. The deal is to keep the crew paid.

To all people at war with the AI factions - please report any cases of landed combat ships. I'm curious whether the 'no cargo' change to combat units works as intended. I know Rebels did manage to somehow capture at least one Sympiot ship, which suggests something might still be iffy. It's possible that the AI might try landing whole fleets, i.e. cargo ships+escorts.
In any case, let me know if you spot any such behaviour.
