Apparently this pump operator is cracking jokes while she works.

Someone so uncreative would retell someone else's joke wouldn't they?

Trying to pick a site. If I have 8 Joyous Wild tiles and a single terrifying tile, how would that play out?

Working on the double-tunneled minecart from the forges to the entrance. 100 z-levels to go...
Meanwhile, I try to relocate the metal-related works to the magma sea level, nearby the glass furnaces and the soon to be built magma-kiln to start a pottery trade.

We are called "Merchanttalk" for a reason!

I've heard Minecart Airlines Express offers nice trips to nobility. Alternative trips include a voyage over the volcano. Call 1-800-I-THE-GUINEAPIG-VOLUNTEER and book now!
My fucking armok, you broke the game.

Joyous Wilds aren't that different from Untamed Wilds, they just enable feather trees, mountain gnomes, unicorns, downy grass, sun berries, etc. So it'd be essentially the same as any other embark with a single terrifying tile.

And what's an embark with a single terrifying tile like? Aside from how that one tile would normally be, how would it effect the other tiles?

Evil weather would only spawn on the single terrifying tile, and evil biome creatures would only migrate onto the map from that tile.

Make sure to dump all your corpses on the terrifying tile or no beard.

so there won't be any undead if I bury them on the joyous part?

There may be wandering undead, or animals that wander into the terrifying square may get thralled. But you shouldn't have anything dead rising unless it's in the terrifying square. at the time.

Just changed the init file to display FPS. Apparently, mine falls from 100 to 8(8) whenever I unpause the game. Does this mean something is wrong?

so the number of undead should be fairly minimal/rather easy to handle?

Yes, but you won't have beard due to not pointlessly subjecting yourself to massive undead sieges and inevitable fortress penetration.

A paused game always runs at full speed ;)

what about the 8(8 Damn Emoticon)? How slow is that? My dwarves have seemed slower after exploring the caverns, so might closing them off do it?

Closing off your dorfs is horrific, it isn't their fault, just close off the caverns.

This will help, but it won't solve the problem. Every explored tile on the map decreases your FPS (also before its explored, but less so then) even if it's walled off.
