If it was cats, I'm pretty sure vermin don't release miasma. If it's anything bigger, just cage it like Kepplerr said.

It's nothing bigger than cats and piglets. I'm building a butcher's shop right now, but it'll be a while before it's done because everybody's busy hauling stone out of the new bedrooms.

EDIT: One of my dorfs, a stonecrafter, just got a fey mood. If nothing else it was a good reminder that I hadn't built a craftsdwarves' workshop yet.

Edit 2: Salirmes Sarvesh Vuthil, "Adoredcreatures the Furnaces of Flight", a hematite scepter. This is a hematite scepter. All the craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encircled with bands of hematite.

Currently doing the designating for a 40-level pump stack. Not for magma -- I'm going to load it up with a couple of bucketfuls of water and then drop the water right through the centre of the fortress in a long loop. I also plan on using the hole as an express delivery system for sandbags.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

My dwarves are discovering the joys of lead bins and skeletal badgers.

Oh lead bins, what a sweet reminder you are that my 4x4 embark has SEVEN THOUSAND GALENA but no iron, and only 254 candy...

I think I have a goblin cult trying to steal children from me.
EVERYTHING they decorate has a forgotten beast on it. Even their civilization symbol is a forgotten beast.

It sounds like you have the cult of Cthulhu on your doorstep - just pray he doesn't turn up himself!

The Forgotten God Cthulhu has arrived! A gigantic eldritch abomination. Beware its deadly gaze!

they're not mad already? oh man

picked up the on hold fort again and dug into large deposits of limonite in the limestone layers. everything to make steel, right here in front of me. Now if i can just get my hands on some magma. unfortunately i may have made a few too many layers between me and the fun, about 70. Not that i wanted stone, but i got a bit tired of breaching caverns before i even finished the bedrooms

In other news, my main swords dwarf (who happens to be the mayor and clerk of the outpost) has a new title:
Thabost Searchabbey The Confining Relief of Numbers. Kinda fitting, considering her civilian occupation.

a titan got to the fort. No problem, hole up till i can deal with it... just one problem, FPS has dropped to minimum since it set fire to the ground. I wonder if its immune to the forest fire it started
I see now how the fire started. It seems a pet dog was left outside when everything closed down

on that point, can titans shoot flame over z levels like marksdorfs or stay on the same z level like siege? and through fortifications?

on a positive note, the next caravan expected is the elf.
On a negative note, now i really need magma to get rid of all the worthless wooden stuff

First embark in a terrifying temperate forest. 3 pages of skeletal badgers. My mason is now a professional fighter, expert wrestler, novice striker, dabbling kicker.
EDIT: My mason was struck down by a pair of ferocious skeletal deer. We shall mourn his passing.

some of the fire must've gone out, fps almost doubled

science project: are racoons immune to fire?

the babies are the least happy inhabitants, probably because they have to drink milk instead of alcohol

edit:
titan seems immune to fire

i feel a bit like a boatmurdered gov right now. "we're building a whole floor just to drop it on the titan's head. We'll get him. Just don't touch this switch while construction is still going."

next:
the mayor is demanding alternately backpacks or copper items, or banning their export, which is mostly no problem to me. This is the easiest mayor i ever had. The time he banned spider silk export was tough since the dwarf caravan carries plenty of it, often as bags containing useless stuff, and if you let em walk away with it it can end... badly. On the plus side, 4 luxurious "holding cells" have been made ready. the craftdwarfship of all items, the engraved floors..... I dont think anyone will mind wandering around there for days as long as they get regular drinks and meals

I just embarked. The map is covered in snow and the sea appears to be frozen. Oh, we also have camels and cacti.
