[Sirus]

: "Well...many spells from tomes and the like are accompanied by sound as the magic comes forth. But something tells me that you're wondering is magic can make specific sounds."

[GiglameshDespair]

"Yeah, exactly!"

"I was thinking maybe it'd be possible to make a magic book or something that plays the sounds. So I wouldn't need someone else to read to me when I'm bored."

[Sirus]

: "Hmm...well, I suppose in theory it would be possible. You'd have to ask the people who make magical tomes though, since it is a secret art which I am not privy to."

: "Probably an easier solution would be to engrave letters into wooden boards, or even to create an entirely new alphabet that the blind could "read" by running their fingers along the characters. I am not sure how one would go about doing that though."

[GiglameshDespair]

"I guess, yeah. Wait, you don't know how to make magic books? You're a librarian."

[F.O.E.]

"No problem, let's get going. Which way's the courtyard?"

"Right this way, follow me," Charles said, leading Acacia out of the hall and into the courtyard.

"Let's get started, shall we?"

[Sirus]

Mordecai pinched the bridge of his nose.

: "A librarian is in charge of cataloging, storing, and referencing books. He does not make them. Do you think that a general store owner makes all of his wares himself?"

[UXLZ]

At this point, the girl who had thus far remained silent started to speak.

"Surely you've written something in your life?

or death as the case may be... But Teagan didn't need to know that.

[GiglameshDespair]

"I assume not...? I've never been in one.

But books are books. You waggle something with ink on it on paper and call it a day. Even I know how they're made. And you're a sorceror. I would have thought you'd know the magical jigmalats in writing them."

[Lucus Casius]

The old man appeared affronted at Tirena's comment.

:"I assure you, my girl, even the copy of a book demands far more than 'waggling something with ink on it.'"

[GiglameshDespair]

Tirena turned her face towards the speaker.

"Oh, I didn't introduce myself. I am Tirena Nerarand. I didn't hear your name. What's the difficulty, anyway?"

[Furtuka]

"Alright!" she shouted, grabbing a practice spear off a rack. She gave it an spin and got into a fighting stance once Charles had gotten his.

"I'm not going to hold back!"

Acacia lunged at him

[Lucus Casius]

:"Proper book-making can take months.  Years, for some of the larger and more elaborate volumes. "

:"Why, properly treating the skins to make parchment is a trade of its own.  Ordering the pages is yet another.  Estimating the size of handwriting, preparing the ink, and decorating the pages to exacting specifications all take yet more time and a good deal more expertise.  Then, a scribe is needed to carefully copy the text."

:"Even for nonmagical manuscripts, good scribes are hard to find.  I can't imagine it would be easier for the magical."

:"Hrmm.  I suppose that writing original works might be easier than that.  I've never needed to worry about making my drafts look presentable..."

:"Ah.  Forgive me.  It seems I've been rambling again.  I am Sir Teagan Leigh."

[F.O.E.]

"Good, because I wont either!"

Charles easily sidestepped Acacia's lunge and countered, jabbing the lance into her side and following up with a strike at her chest.

[Sirus]

At this point, the girl who had thus far remained silent started to speak.

"Surely you've written something in your life?

: "A few things, over the years. Essays on magical theory, memoirs, Nothing worth cataloging in the royal library."

Tirena's prodding was irritating, but there was nothing Mordecai could do about it. He had tried to get into the tome-crafting guilds at one point but they had a very strict humans-only policy. Even the ingredients used to make the magical ink that all tomes used was a closely guarded secret.

[UXLZ]

"Do you still have them? The essays on magical theory may be useful for me later on. Obviously I wouldn't understand them now, but in the future..."

Lilie turns towards Teagan.

"Oh, you're that famous author guy, aren't you? I think I remember my father mentioning your name while ranting about how 'no one can write a good book anymore'."
