Did he reply? I haven't seen an E-Mail from the address he sent yet...

And man, I have way to much free time without Internet access or art supplies around...

Looks like my mail blocked the mail or something... So shot a PM :)

Meanwhile, working on graphical update.

This is a concept of how updated ships should look like.

Sharatar Frigate. But not the final for sure, I do not really like it, as it does not feel like a big ship.

BTW, I have one question regarding Designer screen - how difficult it is to deal with multi-deck ships? Would it be better if you can see all decks at once (side by side, for example)?

That would be a nice option, but I'm used to the current deck design.

Design Screen stuff:

Scroll wheeling through the decks would be neat.

How you delete things, sucks. Its just really unwieldy.

It'd be super awesome if you could rotate the pieces.

Ships with Troop Carrier Modules need the ability to transverse your empire (automatically) and pick dudes up, and they need the ability to be able to pick dudes up in batches less then 1k.

I also think that ships that are blockading a system to be able to repair and refuel if the system was capable of it. Reduce rate would be fine.

Didn't you try right-clicking to delete?

This is completely redesigned now. Now you need to build ground units of different types and transport them with different modules. You also can use these units to defend your planet.

A.K.A Invading just got a lot more difficult- you now will have to worry about your Garrisons and Invasion Forces, and hope you aren't overwhelmed by enemy Forces. Those forces will also require maintenance, which will force you to look for more resources. There may also be other factors to consider.

Exactly. And now there are a number of different unit types that can be race-specific and best fitted to fight against some specific units or in some specific conditions. Like Boats for Oceanic worlds where Tanks cannot be used. Or ground support aircrafts that are excellent against tanks but weak against air fighters.
Also invading a planet now takes some time and reinforcements for ground forces are possible.
Space defence and planet defence now gives you a chance to intercept descanting units or bombs. AI now also use bombs to weaken the planet defence before invasion.

Another question is, how difficult is to understand the "cycled" battlefield in tactical combat? Would it be better if the battlefield was not cycled but limited by "retreat" areas?

What are the Pros & Cons of Cycled vs. Limited by Areas?

I believe this game is exactly what I have been looking for.  I love 2.5D 4X space games with large-scale planing, maneuvering and fighting, instead of a 3D or 4D graphic monster.

In other words, I look forward to seeing a space-era "Cossacks!" (many RTS fans know what game I am talking about).

I have just started the play-testing, feeling good but a bit slow (perhaps I should put it on a better PC and try again).  One question:  Is there anyway we are allowed to mod some graphic items, such as the race name and portraits?  Call me a "predictable box-head" or whatsoever, but I do much prefer to see human-face fighting against human-face, rather than "insectoid vs. birdoid", "kitty fighting chicken" ...... Well, I know it could be only me, but if the game designer can kindly give me some tips how to edit or mod the race portrait, or set up a folder for the related images (so that players can replace them), I will be more than grateful.  :D

Just my 2 cents.

BTW, before I see this game, I do like "AI War Fleet Command" and "Space Empire V".  They both allow for my favorite 2.5D space wars, but SEV is turn-based in the strategic level, not real-time; and AI War ...... real time alright, and tons of units and huge fighting scales alright, no multi-player support alright (just like Galaxia), but the biggest problem is: I can not even see a d**n face or race portrait throughout this game, only units!

This "faceless" style makes me somehow uncomfortable, just like being lost in space and do not know whom I shall scream to.  Come on, I am still human (am I?), not an AI player who might be totally indifferent with how the friend or foe look like.

So if I can find a good story or at least some interesting human faces in this game design, I think I can dump AI war for good.  :)
