Well, I'll see if I can find any FTB lite servers, in that case.
Mmm, just from a quick search the largest servers I can find using that pack are hosting about 22 players at present, the highest activity did get up to about 71 players at a time, however.

It looks like we're not using mods. I'll leave the poll up a bit longer, though.

The poll might not quite be accurate, though, because some people don't want mods because their computers can't handle the larger modpacks and some people don't want mods because they dislike them in general.

...Why does that distinction matter? Either way, they don't want mods.

Server plugins will be handled in a separate poll.

I've never tried FTB, but I'm up for whatever.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

Some people who vote don't even play with us... we definitely don't have that many people currently participating...

If you don't plan to actually play, don't vote for anything other than the third option. Seriously.

It's definitely a problem. I hoped that the third answer would help with that, but I suspect that some of them might be people who posted at some point in time and compulsively vote on everything.

Perhaps we should just sound off in the thread. I vote no, because I play on a potatobox and don't care to learn the complicated and generally poorly implemented systems large minecraft mods tend to bring to the table. Balance tweaks are fine with me but that's really it.

Leaning towards no. I'm willing to play with server-side ones, though, if everyone else wants them.

Edit: Below post made below made before a triple ninja.

By things posted earlier in the thread, we have:

For vanilla:

The reason that vanilla/lightly modded is good is that us 32-bit people can run it.

As for player amount, it would probably be good if we don't totally overwhelm them.

I'd prefer a vanilla server, because FPS (and I don't feel like learning a giant new system.) A vanilla server's more likely to have a population too, in my experience.

I just don't want to have to install additional stuff to play.

I don't think we should do modded to many people would leave

Also we should probably find a reasonably popular server otherwise it would be way to laggy and there would be no one for us to murder

Total: 4

Don't Care:

I don't have a preference between vanilla and modded, but I have a preference for factions servers.

I do not care one way or the other on whether it is factions or chaos, modded or unmodded (though the latter might cause me to drop out if my computer can't handle it).

I've never tried FTB, but I'm up for whatever.

Total: 3

Modded:

Why would people leave with modded? It's like Vanilla, but better!

If you're worrying about installing, the FTB pack installs all the mods for you, configures them, then launches them, so we'll have NO troubles whatsoever there.
It expands how dorfy we can be.
And if you're complaining about it being complicated, I have one thing to say to you...
CIVCRAFT IS PROBABLY MORE F***ING COMPLICATED THAN MODDED >:C

Well, I'll see if I can find any FTB lite servers, in that case.

It looks like opinion is 2 to 1 against using mods.

Meh.  I would actually prefer Vanilla, as my framerate is normally bad, and Optifine is the only way I could get 60, on a Flatworld.  Even that's with several options off.

Anyone able to find a 1.8 server that has a world map you can view?  Be good to know where various player cities are so we can find a place to build safely.
