Armies of Kallamere
You are a knight in the Kingdom of Kallamere. You've served in your lord's army for three years, ascending through the ranks to where you are now - second only to your lord himself. Your lord's name is Teldin Lofmire, and he is a Signate, one of the men responsible for maintaining and leading the King's armies.
You are currently marching through a dense forest, coming closer to a bandit group's hideout. Days before, Signate Lofmire received word of a group of brigands that needed to be taken care of. The bandits were becoming increasingly troublesome; they were raiding caravans and burning local villages. Believing this to be a simple task, Lofmir only left with his retinue and a score of men at arms. Now, you can feel that someone was watching your progress. Before you know it, the woods around you are filled with a strange whirring sound, reminding you of a bee's hum. Suddenly the world around turns to nothing as a slingstone slams into the side of your helmet, knocking you over. Somehow you manage to faintly hear someone shout, "Ambush!"
Falling unconscious saved your life, as the assaulting bandits took you for dead. It is late evening when you awake, finding the survivors of the attack huddled around a small fire. You move over to join them. One man, another retainer named Oliver, looks up your approach. "You're alive! We thought for sure that stone had ended you," he says. You sit on a nearby rock and reply,"It feels like it. It's going to hurt for a while. What's happened and who has survived? Where's Signate Lofmire?" The men around the fire look away when you mention Lofmire. A sergeant speaks up hesitantly,"My lord, he.. he was killed by that pig, Emerson, their leader. He had snuck up behind the Signate in the battle and kill't him from behind! After that he demanded surrender." One of the men at arms continues,"We complied. They took all our arms, but they left us our armor. Guess they want us to spread the word of how powerful they are." A minute of silence follows. Oliver breaks it with a short laugh. "They're mistake. I'll make them pay for what they've done." Another surviving knight, Ulman, speaks to you, "Well, what will you have us do? You'll be our Signate now you know." He's right, the position of Signate, unlike other titles, isn't handed down through kinship, it is given through rank. As Lofmire's second, you will be expected to assume his place. However, you have other worries at the moment. Your head is still swimming and you can't remember some things. You need to remember what your name is. What weapon did you use? What were you particularly good at and was there anything else important that you need to remember about your past? You should also decide what to do; the castle at which you were staying is three days away. However, the brigands only left you with a day's supply of food. You have a total of twenty eight men left, of the original forty five. One man tells you that there had been at least four score of the bandits.
Kallamere
Kallamere is on the northwestern coast of the mainland known as Ysolin. Bordering nations include the kingdom of Drael, the republic of Isoluma, and the self-proclaimed rebel kingdom of Gaun, formerly part of Kallamere. There is still minor skirmishing going on between Gaun and Kallamere, but hostilities have largely ended.
The current king on Kallamere's throne is King Horace the benevolent. Most of the population love him, and he is the one who has been negotiating peace with Guan. His son, George, takes almost directly after his father, and many love him, trusting the king's good lineage.
There are a total of six Signates: Teldin Lofmire (Now you), Aaron Mavolier, Orvin Grey, Stephan Fronamere, Rosklin Ravort, and Quiston Brentson. Two Signates are responsible for treating major threats within the borders. These men are Ravort and Orvin. Due to recent events, Guan and now Lofmire's death, have left many wondering of the competence of the two. The other four are the King's sword when in war. They are responsible for campaigning against Kallamere's enemies.
Nations of Ysolin
Guan - The nation of Guan is quickly rising to become a power, despite its recent and bloody beginning. It is allied with two weaker nations, the Jolk and Raomen. The Guan have almost identical battle skills and tactics as the men of Kallamere. They currently hold regions to the southeast of Kallamere.
Drael - Kallamere's most prominent ally on Ysolin, the Drael are a country of dwarves, and their mountains form the easternmost border of Kallamere. Their fortresses are well defended by their crossbowdwarves, and when they are at war the Drael axedwarves are fearsome in combat. They are also master craftsmen and their steel is stronger than any other metal available to man.
Isoluma - The Isol are an odd lot. In a time when kings and queens are the norm, they have instituted a kind of republic. The people elect local leaders to participate in a nation-wide council. All laws and matters are debated in this council and, as such, they don't have a single man or woman leading the country. Occupying the southern border with Kallamere, Isoluma is often a neutral nation. They rarely participate in wars that they were not previously fighting. Currently, they are fighting against the elves of Grevoria in the south.
Grevoria - The elven kingdom of Grevoria resides along the southern coast of Ysolin, making them the largest nation land-wise. Their land is one of freezing plains and frostbitten forests. These elves have tamed the fearsome bears that reside deep in the forests, and they ride them in wars to wreak havoc and break an enemy's line. Aside from the bear riders, the elves also have a number of warlocks and sorceresses. They are most attuned of all the races to the Etherplane. From there, warlocks can summon mystical beasts, and sorceresses can call forth scorching flames upon attackers. Still, these powers have a cost. The daemons from the Etherplane have a tendency to corrupt magic users, making them more powerful but slaves to the daemon's will. Enslaved magic users have twice before taken over Grevoria, and nearly conquered bordering nations. No one knows how they were stopped, but doubtless the daemons will attempt to do so again.
Jolk - The Jolk occupy the smallest amount of land on the Jolken peninsula to the far east. Despite their small amount of land, the Jolk are dangerous pirates, untrustworthy and they will do anything for silver. They raid along the coast of the entire continent, no coastal village is safe from their greedy hands. They are only allies of Guan because of the immense payments they receive from them. The Jolk are masters of warfare on the seas or near the coast.
Raomen - The Raomen are barely a nation. They are a collection of nomads, with only a few periodic cities to mark where they control.
Because of their nomadic lives, the Raomen people make excellent lancers and mounted archers, proficient at skirmishing. They are a vulnerable nation, and they occupy the center flatlands of Ysolin. Allies of the Guan, they serve as their scouts and light cavalry.
Note: There will only be one Player Character, so I'll chose the one that is most popular.
Name: What your name is.
Weapon: Your preferred weapon. You can have a secondary.
Skills: (Only four!) What are you good at? These will be important.
Background: Optional, your history.
Other: Optional, anything else you deem important to mention.
You should also suggest what you and the survivors need to do.
The game will have a heavy reliance on troop numbers and tactics, and occasionally skill at arms.
The idea is to have large scale warfare, not just a single hero fighting.
You will be able to request intelligence from the crown, and send scouts to bring back information. Possibly even subterfuge, though I'm not sure on that.
There will be sieges, and I'll be trying my best to make everything fantasy realistic.
There
will be a story, so I'm going to do my best not to ruin any of it with my poor writing skills.
As for how often updates will be, I can't say for sure, as I have testing starting soon. I'll try to do it as often as possible though.
Please let me know of any inconsistencies you find in the writing. I'm sure there's a few.
The entire thing will probably be in second person.
Thanks for reading all that, if you did, and I hope you liked it.
EDIT: Just to note: It will be possible to gain more skills as the game goes on.
