Waldrid purses his lips slightly, annoyed by the arrogance of this woman.

"Madam, I note your suggestion, and it is a fair proposal. But it is not the only option, and I believe that others should be examined as well."

He says reasonably. He then addresses another topic of concern, noticing the perceived insult from the father, and the result it caused.

"As well, Father, please try not to insult our fair lady. She does wield some measure of power. Whether that is enough for the leadership position she seems to have claimed, is up to debate.

For now, I stand by my previous suggestion as to our location, if only because of the protection it provides. It is equal in distance to the Lady's, but has a great mountain range between us and the Tower. It provides the same, if not more, in the amount of Lumber and stone. Mayhaps the water is not as fresh, but there are ways the remedy that. As well, we have clay for crafting and housing construction."

'Hmm. Both are good suggestions. I would personally be reluctant to settle on an island, for the dead need not breathe nor make no sounds.' Parbrook's hand reaches up once more, touching the scar for the briefest of moments.
'But I digress. the mountains may delay the dead somewhat and weaken their ranks, but I cannot guarantee it will do more than delay them. Given the additional time it would take to travel, I cannot assure you of the advantages. It would also leave any who follow in our footsteps much more exposed.' He traces a line from the southern edge upwards to the east.

Sir Waldrid contemplates this addition for a moment, narrowing his eyes and nodding.

"You make a valid point, Sir, and I thank you for bringing that observation to my attention. Very well."

He says, leaning back from the table slightly, and making eye contact with everyone sorrounding the map.

"Your suggestion makes the most sense, given the disadvantages of traveling such a distance. We shall head west, towards the Lake, but be warned. If we begin our settlement near, or Heaven forbid, upon the water, we shall be in dire straights. Let us build up in the hills, where we still shall have access to the waterway. Also, if we may bring additional supplies, might I suggest alchemical supplies? We might have need of the comfort of firearms in the future."

Finished, Waldrid steps back, and lets the others finalize the agreement, before setting off.

Fyreheart nodded, accepting the mild rebuke. To the proposal of alchemical supplies:

"A good idea, sir. My mother taught me some of alchemy. I have never used firearms myself, but it is a good weapon for the smallfolk."

Alchemy supplies, eh? Excellent idea; I could make fine use of alchemical reagents, myself!

"On the contrary, Father, bring me some resin, quicklime, naphtha, and black powder, and I'll show you just what I can conjure without any of your magic.

Striking some theatralic poses, the certainly-not-inbribed-vagrant speaks up;

"A-ha~ha, Good Sir Priest, plu~ease. Hold your tongue-lashings, because are we not all a heretic to thousands of gods safe one?

Oh, sure, You say it is the right one, sure, but I would have heard that from many a men, and of many a god. None of which deemed the necromancer important enough to intervene directly, on account of his hordes still well and un-living."

((The reagents are alchemical supplies, as it would be too much to list everything individually - if anything more specific is required it'll have to be found. bear in mind that each 1 resource actually equates to a check's worth of progress - 10 could stretch quite a long way in the hands of a skilled character.))

‘We have some few reagents, but we could not muster much more without significant delay. As for our site, That puts us some fifty kilometres from the tower, and around twenty five from our walls.’ He stops, the ghost of a smile lighting his lips. ‘We may live yet.’
-----
The following day sees the party gathering by the walls in the early morning light. Four wagons sit there, their horses whinnying nervously. Not that they could be blamed, for the sight that greets the party is a desolate one. The land is cleared for almost a kilometre out, and littered with bones and remains. A weak miasma floats in the air, borne on the southerly wind, and Sir Parbrook pulls a plain white cloth from beneath his cloak and holds it over his nose. A muffled voice asks them to board the wagons, before they begin to move.
The closer they get to the treeline, the stronger the stench, and the more common the bones - eventually, bones give way to bodies. their smell reveals their age, but even in death the necromancer’s art holds them in a foul resemblance of life, a mockery of death itself. The horses spook as an arm flops down from the trees, but closer inspection reveals a maimed and broken soldier’s corpse, holy sigils inked into his skin preventing his rise.
The woods loom dark before them and around them, all roads long since abandoned. Anything could lurk in that darkness.

((Day actions - 2 as you're on the wagon.))

Search for alchemical reagants. Evil has most unusual effects on common herbs.
Brew some vials of Greek Fire for later use.

The assassin says.

Sir Waldrid looks askance at the man.

"If I may say, sir, it is not fully night, and will not be so for some time. And not to judge your character, but mayhaps either me or another more... Well equipped... Individual take guard later."

Sir Waldrid examines the area around and up to the campsite in more detail. What kind of terrain is further on? He also takes stock of and checks the quality of our metallurgical supplies.

Clair looked at the man "I didn't think the cloak was that form-hiding. As for not being equipped, I will wake up the others if I see a ghoul. I am not dumb enough to fight one alone."
