"Praise the sun. A favourable portent."

Guard.

As dusk faded into the darkness of night, Alyce stood tall. She breathed in deep the scents of night and decay.

Kyle stands next to Alyce.

[GiglameshDespair]

"Sun greet you, Kyle."

[kj1225]

Kyle nods pleasantly to Alyce.
"Well met, Lady Alyce."

[GiglameshDespair]

She nodded back.

"You have a rogueish look about you, but there is little gold to be won on this venture," she said bluntly, if not without friendliness. It was the tone of one used to being answered, but without scorn or condescension. "Why are you on this quest, Kyle?"

Kyle shrugs.
"Penance I suppose. And while I was unaware of you before I'd say that a strong lass like you sweetened the deal."

[GiglameshDespair]

Her gaze cooled ever so slightly. "This 'sweet lass' has a mace that weighs as much as a child, Kyle, and does not appreciate being referred to as such." She smiled, but there was steel behind the smile. "Honour is worth more than gold, Kyle."

Kyle snorts.
"You'll remember I said strong, not sweet."

[GiglameshDespair]

"So you did. Still, I am a lady, not a lass." She laughed softly, realising her mistake. "I apologise, Kyle."

There was a brief moment of silence.

"...Have you ever fought the dead before, Kyle?" she asked changing the subject.

Kyle looks off into the distance.
"I have fought men that knew their fate. I have fought men so zcared of tue fact they forgot to die for a while. But I've never fought those that were dead from the start."
Kyle sounds deep in the memories.

[GiglameshDespair]

"You have fought a lot of battles, Kyle." It was not so much a question as a statement.

He nods with a slight frown.
"And I was out numbered in most of them."

[GiglameshDespair]

"And yet you are here. A useful skill - the dead number a kingdom in this fallen land, after all." She laughed again.

Kyle smiles before quickly frowning.
"And I'd bet that none of us will live to have a legacy beyond our corpses."

[GiglameshDespair]

Her gaze was steady. "Then let us make a deal. The last to fall will stop the other from rising. Should I die, burn me to ash. I will do the same to you, if you wish."
