"Well that depends on the situation, if nothing else major comes up then we finish digging in and start spreading out to the surrounding towns 1 at a time smallest first. Another good job for your lads Blank.

When we're about done here they can explore nearby towns to look for trouble while I go through police channels.

I'm going to agree with Corran on this.  We need to prepare ourselves for when we draw the attention of the bigger crime syndicates, the ones who can and will actively oppose us.

"Well thats a problem for later on, for now we need to deal with the Rebs.

I'll arrange to meet with the soldier in jail to set up a meeting, Blank you good with getting your guys onto that safehouse? I need intel on it particularly night and dawn. But they could follow anybody they see as well maybe we can expand the picture on them a bit.

Doc, you've got the 10 retired cops set them up however you want just make sure they all have some time for training. The towns small so just cycle them in and out you won't need all 10 at once.

I certainly hope I won't need them all at once.

The thing is, though... we have to look ahead.  Far ahead, into the future.  If this project is successful, I'm sure that at first we will be media darlings.  We will be the ones doing what the government can or won't do, the ones out on the streets fighting crime.

But do you realize what happens next.  One mission is going to be failed, and believe me, it will happen eventually.  ONe mission will fail, and the civilians will pay for it dearly.  Then what do they think of us?  What does the government think of us?

"I am setting up a place for my flock to meet and..."
Blank coughs. When he speaks next the lisp and rasp are gone.
"What do you think I need a bleeding church for? I'm making a cult and you don't expect me to have somewhere to meet them?"

"If your doing something that publicly exposes one of the directors of this organization I want details. If you get caught were all in trouble.

If you plan to far into the future you lose track of the present, a lot could change between now and then. Focus on what we can do now to make our job in the future easier.
As for what happens next? We'll come to it when we come to it, I have no problem taking the fall if things go wrong it's not like I haven't done this before. My reputation with law enforcement won't take any damage and the civilians well losing a few to save many is acceptable.

As long as we get good results more often then bad the government will let us continue because we're not officially linked to them. They can cut us loose to avoid it looking bad on them.

But what will cutting us loose look like?  Stopping our funding, or worse?

"There are a lot of ways to make money, especially where criminals are concerned that won't be an issue.

And if they try to go further, well. I've gone rouge once I have no problem doing it again and if they think 1 of me did a lot of damage wait until they see what 200 of me can do. If I call a great deal of motivated and well armed friends will join me. I'm far from the only S.W.A.T unhappy with how the rules and regulations get in our way.

If they try to force the issue then I'll persuade them it's better to work with me then against me. They had federal agents trying to catch me for 2 years and they never even got close. They won't push us over 1 mistake.

Trust me, I know how to operate without support.

That's what I needed to know.  So the real question is: do we fortify this base and use it as our central hb, or do we, as I would suggest, spread our forces out in the future and have no central hub, keeping in touch via closed circuit email and other means of communication.

" I'd suggest we use this as our home base but spread out once we have the man power. I already have 2 second in commands and with a bit of training they're more then capable of handling local operations.

I've got plenty of experience running operations all over the country at the same time. I can handle the tactical side of things.

But while that is interesting, perhaps there is an easier way to do this than brute force, at least with the cossacks.  We take out the rebs, which SHOULD make a point to the cossacks that they are no longer wanted in town.
"Or they take the opportunity to try and fill in the power vacuum."

"It was intended as a compliment, sometimes a lack of discipline has it's uses and this is one of them. I have the men to take the safehouse but I need specifics first."
"You are very good at disguising your compliments as insults. Work on that."

"Well for my plan, I want to make a deal with the Cossacks, we need more intel so meeting some is essential and they're all but at war with the other gang but they lack the real guts and firepower to fight them. I'm sure they'll be happy to pay us to do it for them and we need the money. Plus I enjoy the irony of us coming for them later with weapons they paid for."
[/quote]
"Excellent plan."

"Well that depends on the situation, if nothing else major comes up then we finish digging in and start spreading out to the surrounding towns 1 at a time smallest first. Another good job for your lads Blank."
"And when crime returns here? What do we do then?"

"I am setting up a place for my flock to meet and..."
Blank coughs. When he speaks next the lisp and rasp are gone.

"And what will the cult be used for?"

I certainly hope I won't need them all at once.

"What do the people think of the cops when they fail one of their 'missions'? The exact same they did before. What's the difference here?"

That's what I needed to know.  So the real question is: do we fortify this base and use it as our central hb, or do we, as I would suggest, spread our forces out in the future and have no central hub, keeping in touch via closed circuit email and other means of communication.
"...Closed circuit email requires a central location, a network that doesn't rely on the worldwide web."

"Distributed command is often lauded, but they overlook the coordination value of centralized command structures. That said, once we start expanding into neighboring towns, only a weak central command is really needed."
